has anyone done the mars mod on the ic718? any special tools required such as an iron, or is it just a snip with pliers? Looking to open up 60 meters.

thanks, great link. I recognise the 1.8-30 mod by removing D54, however the first mod listed has removing 3 diodes for .1-30...that one is news to me. which have you had experence with/recomend?

Thanks for your input

I've not done the 718 mod. Just found the info. But Icom loves it's diodes.. My 706MKIIG and 703+ are both Diode mods...

It states:
It is simple to get a complete coverage (0.1 - 30 MHz) both in reception and transmission, by removing the three diodes D53, D54 and D55.

So to me you have to lift all three diodes to get receive and transmit. I don't see a single diode mod until later down the page...
Hi, I've tested some combination of D48 to D55. I have found some interesting things ...

D52 : If present, you change your IC-718 into a IC-78.

D50 : If not present, the 160 meters band is reduced.

D54 : Full band TX (1.6 to 30 or 33 MHz (depend on D55).

D55 : if not present, extend range from 30 up to 33 MHz.
and as it says, it depends on the presence of D55.

Remember all mods are done at your own risk, and will completely void any warranty you may have left..
