Same with my IC-R6s.

I've ended up with three of them, one black, one red and one blue...
Not to get off topic, much, but I have an IC-R6 from 2008 or so. A few months ago I decided to buy another one, new, as a backup. I have to say the new one definitely tends to be more susceptible to interference and general noise opening the squelch on various bands. I reset the radio and did a cable clone from the old to the new, same antennas. Not sure what to make of that.

You have... the IC-R15 or R30 or battery case.
The BP-293 battery case works on the Icom R30 and the R15. It holds three AA batteries. I should note that I use rechargeable AA batteries in the BP-293 case.

Woo hoo! I just noticed the IC-R15 uses the same Li-Ion battery pack, AA battery pack, and drop-in charger as the R30. This is great news for us R30 owners, especially the continued availability of the Li-Ion battery pack.
That's great news as I own an R30. Now if they only lower the price. It's a very expensive battery.

Going to do a comparison with my units to see if I can replicate that.

If you look at the R15 brochure, it shows that a software package called CS-R15 will be available to use to program the receiver. The image looks just like the R30 software. It will be especially nice if you can export from the R30 software and import into the R15 software just like you can from the R30 software to the R8600 software. I have a LARGE BUNCH of air band frequencies in my R30 receiver, so that would make it easy to quickly get the R15 up and running to test it.

HOWEVER, I must wait for @palmerjrusa extensive review and approval before pulling the trigger to buy the receiver and software.

The one thing that caught my eye in the Sensitivity specs were measurements of 0 dBu or less. You don't often see that on receivers of this class.

If this is true, a bit pricey for a non digital receiver.

I was expecting it to be around that price point and think it's pretty reasonable.

I can remember way back paying over $500 for a Yaesu VR-500 so, taking inflation into account and the advances in technology, $449.95 is a reasonable price.

You can make a good argument with current radio amateur gear that never before have you gotten more value/performance for your $$$ than now.
