The IC-R8600 and R30 both support NXDN Very Narrow and Narrow. If you want both, you must program the frequency or search twice. Once for Narrow and again as Very Narrow. Both NXDN modes work fine on matching N or VN NXDN systems here.

Got a reply this morning from HRO regarding how many were in line for this receiver. Was told 8. Then 5 were added today from folks here posting they reserved. Hope Icom sends at least 25 to HRO see all get ours.

Icom is a good brand and makes well-built units. Dual receive, Bluetooth, recording capability and the scanning speed all looks nice, but am I off-base here for thinking $450.00 seems a little excessive for a purely analog portable that tops out at 500Mhz?

Not cheap for sure, but I've paid more for fewer features in the past.

Plus, I know with Icom the quality and performance will be there.

$449.95 is about what I expected, so no surprises there.

I wouldn't be surprised if it beats the R30 in sensitivity being a analog receiver only. Will be testing mine when it comes out. Anyone know someone in japan that has both that you can ask?
