Very sad to hear about the events unfolding in Independence, MO today. My thoughts and prayers are with the first responders and families of those affected by this horrific tragedy.

I could not help to listen to the AMR calls from the MARRS feed of the incident as it unfolded. It sounds like two of the ambulances transporting the officers and court employees ran into mechanical issues, the first being an ambulance transporting a critical patient (either the officer or court employee who later died) broke down due to a transmission failure and had to wait several minutes for another ambulance to continue transporting while the other was transporting a less than critical patient had to divert hospitals due to the engine overheating. Both ambulances were later towed.

I could not attach the audio files with the specific calls mentioned, but please let me know if anyone would like to have them. It is a shame and while I am unsure if there was a chance to save either of the two lost souls I am certain there needs to be a thorough oversight and investigation into the maintenance procedures and shape of the AMR fleet. Changes need to be made to ensure this does not happen again.
