Would, but won't be available in Europe in 24 as it seems.

That’s correct and it is even worse. Uniden Japan stated that they have no plans to release an European version of the 160DN/260DN. I read that they first want to do some research to see if an European model would be of any profit for them.

Yes but it says its from the uniden store on amazon.

Actually, despite what it says, it does not mean its from the Uniden store. That's a general link to Unidens store (which does not have either radio listed). You have to look for the "ships from" and "sold by" info, which is not on that page.

Here is a 200 with the same Uniden store link and its sold and shipped by Gova.

How many European Facebook Groups and Forums for Railroad and Aviation are there? That is the Market for these Scanners?
Uniden is completely missing the point here: It's not for railroad in Europe. Railroads are mostly GSM-R and there is almost no voice, it's highly automatized.

Here is the thing UNIDEN does not get and I'll provide the use case:

The 160 and 260 would be ideal for LMR monitoring in the 68-87.5, 148-174, 406-425, PMR446 and 450-470 ranges.
And of course Amateur 2M and 70cm.

Uniden underestimates its use and potential in Europe. It's not for railroads here, it's for LMR. There is a lot of DMR and NXDN.

Also, I can give UNIDEN data to review this use case if they are interested. Only question: How common is DMR simulcast?

A filter for 380-400MHz would be great, that's where TETRA and TETRAPOL are home and blaring all over.

Yes but when I clicked on the links for the 2 new models on Amazon, when I clicked the uniden store went to the uniden store. so unless it's just a manufacture page then.

Clicking the link for any store on an Amazon page will take you to that store regardless of who the seller is.

I usually try to support Scanner Master, but since Uniden direct is the only source in stock right now I order from them and supposed to arrive Tuesday...free shipping also. I usually don't pull the trigger this soon on a new model, but couldn't help myself...It's a sickness ...

Itsy bitsy teenie weenie little problem with www.uniden.com is that they only send items within the USA and Canada. So, a lesson in patience for me till other shops are supplied with the 160DN.

Hopefully ya’ll keep posting your findings regarding the 160DN here. That way I can read if it is indeed worth the effort and money to import one myself.

Yup, same here. Almost nobody uses P25 in Europe. TETRAPOL is dying anyway too, Tetra will follow later. Too expensive. Cost efficient DMR and NXDN are on the rise.

The x60DN would fit the bill. Save licensing on P25, enable dPMR and DMR DCDM. Here we go.

I know most people on a fixed income here where I live want a basic conventional scanner, however, I want to test out the new scanners myself, but I do got a dumb question these new radios uniden pumped out finally, the ndxn or dmr are those frequencies or add ons used for railroad only or does marine and air band use em as well, I'm surrounded by water takes me a while to hear trains from time to time, lol

Aircraft frequencies are AM, so while these new scanner models could hear them, nothing special is required. AM cam be received by any of the current models, as well as previous, now discontinued, scanner models. At some airports, including DFW International in my area, DMR is used for ground services used by the airlines. But many of those (at least in my area) are trunked systems, which these two specific models cannot handle.

There are no active marine channels in my area. I think that most of them use Vhf or Uhf, but unknown (to me) if any use P25, DMR, or NXDN in other areas.

Looking at your county, as well as the closest 'mainland' counties near you (Whatcom, Skagit, & Snohomish), as well as Island, I don't see any public safety agencies tagged (in the database) as using DMR or NXDN. There are a few DMR and NXDN trunked systems used by businesses in your vicinity, but these two models do not handle trunking. There may be some businesses near you using DMR, or NXDN, in conventional (not trunked) modes, but none currently listed in the database.

Unless, or until, any users local to you switch to conventional DMR or NXDN, those on fixed income would be better served by a scanner noticeably less expensive than the BCD160DN and BCD260DN. Any agency, or business, of interest that transitions to conventional (not trunked) P25 would also rule out the160 and 260. Looking at the Railroad listings for your state, I do not see any currently tagged as using NXDN.
