RADIO SHACK "Sale" Follow - Up
Please excuse my continued ranting and potential long winded post here about this Pro-107 iScan sale situation at Radio Shack. As serious scanner hobbyists, I feel it necessary to relay what I consider to be horrible and incompetent service from a company who unfortunately, is the only current source I know of for this new scanner technology from GRE.
As previously posted, I am very interested in this scanner, however, knowing that it was on sale for $179.99 around Xmas, I decided to wait and see if it would be offered on sale again, so I checked the SHACK website every day. On Sunday evening I noticed that it went on sale until 1/31 for $199.99, only for online purchase. The website stated it was IN STOCK. With an additional $15.00 off at check out, it came to $185 and change. Not bad. I ordered and had it shipped to a local store.
Yesterday evening I get an e-mail stating the order had been canceled as the item was "unavailable."
I checked the website again, as did other posters here, and saw that the website indicated it was in stock, even though they CANCELED my order outright. I called SHACK customer service and spoke with a rep live on the phone who also advised the item was in stock and apologized.
She stated she would send in a request to a supervisor to have the order renewed at the final price quoted in the original order.
Today i received an e-mail from the Supervisor Josh, and here it is :

Apparently they put an item on sale that they did not have, without updating their computers as well.
Every other reputable retailer I deal with will put your order on BACKORDER until new stock is available to honor your sale price. NOT Radio Shack.
Since I have until Sunday 1/31 for the sale price, but their computer is unreliable, how do I know when it is back in stock? Do I order every day to have it canceled until in stock? Ludicrous. Ridiculous.
I did post a VERY negative review of their customer service under the Pro-107 on the website. let's see if they print it.
I can guarantee you the item will be back in stock after 1/31.
As a result of the above, and in the hope anyone from GRE is reading this forum, PLEASE offer your new line of iScan products as GRE radios through dealers OTHER then Radio Shack.
Their HORRIBLE service gives your company a bad name.
