I have 011 only now after I deleted 003.

Are you saying to do as you suggest now again or next update?

Do what I suggested in the last paragraph of post #459.

The fact that you've updated the files in the "DB" directory has no bearing on conventional channels that you've already imported. At present, the only way to make the scanner use the "updated" data is to delete those conventional channels: you can either delete them on the PC as suggested above, or you delete them one at a time from the scanner's UI (while "browsing objects", press the MENU key on each one you want to delete, press the UP arrow to move to "Delete Object", then press SEL twice). If you only have a few to delete, it might be faster to do it on the scanner; otherwise, doing it on the PC might be more convenient.

I did it again.
I deleted all 003 & 011 files from the PC.
I reloaded 11 & copied it to the SD card.
003 & 011 files listed.
I deleted all 003 files & the iScan sees only 011.

What does 003 keep reloading?

So would I need to delete and re-import every time I want existing playlists updated with the current information from the database (on old existing playlist data), correct?

At present, and for conventional channels only, yes.

I don't know what you mean by "what does 003 keep reloading?".

If the SD Card's "DB" directory contains only files named "RRDB_011.xxx" (plus the RRDB_VER.BIN file), then the only DB files you have are version 011.

Did you previously import (i.e. via the scanner's "Browse Library" function) some of those updated conventional channels? If so, you'll need to delete them in order to import the updated data.

"Delete them" means: delete the imported conventional channel objects as I described above. It doesn't mean "merely get rid of the RRDB_003.xxx files in the DB directory".

There are two distinct data areas (directories) on the SD Card. "DB", which contains the most recently loaded RR DB files, and "CDAT", which contains any data you've imported or programmed. Updating the contents of "DB" does NOT change what's in "CDAT".

Is by design or a bug?

It was by design.

However:
* it's not consistent with how the scanner re-imports trunked systems, sites, and talkgroups
* it seems to be causing problems with the re-import of conventional channels whose data has changed in the DB.

Here is what I have done:
SD card into PC.
Open SD card.
See 5 directories in DB & CDAT
Deleted all 5 directories.
Go Copy DB to SD card.
As the copy progresses, 003 & 011 files are copied.
Open the SD card & I see 003 & 011 DB files.

When I delete the 003 files & insert the SD card into the iScan, I see only the DB 11 and all is OK.

Why does 003 keep coping with 011 if they are not needed?

I presume the above is done in Windows Explorer.
Go Copy DB to SD card.
Is this in Windows Explorer, or by using the PC software's "Copy Library to SD Card" function?
As the copy progresses, 003 & 011 files are copied.
Open the SD card & I see 003 & 011 DB files.
That seems to indicate that you still have the 003 files on the PC, and are copying them over. You can delete them from:
My Documents \ iScan \ DB
(Don't delete the 011 files or RRDB_VER.BIN)

However, keep in mind that none of this has anything to do with what you might see if:
1. you've already imported "Command 31" using version 003
2. you now try to re-import "Command 31" using version 011
The re-import will NOT overwrite the old frequency.

Yes

Via the Pro-107 software.

My Documents \ iScan \ DB
(Don't delete the 011 files or RRDB_VER.BIN)

Thanks. Now that I know where 003 was & was able to deleted them & they no longer copy with 011.

1. you've already imported "Command 31" using version 003
2. you now try to re-import "Command 31" using version 011

All if fine for now.

All I see is 011 in the iScan

Thanks for the great help Don.

I guess I will need to delete the old files manually for each update?

DonS will the psr-700 be able to use the same RS iscan software as the pro-107? Or will neither be compatable with one another?

I doubt there would be any incompatibilities (apart, perhaps, from firmware updating).

Don.

Thanks again for your great help.

I guess you had something to do with the Pro-107 software?

David, in answer to your question, my Pro-106 is trunk tracking just fine, I am wondering why the Pro-107's ( I am working with 3 of them currectly ) basically stopped trunk tracking "ESK" on or about Jan 1st or 2nd -ish ... The strange thing is ... from mid Dec util new years eve - they were doing ESK just fine. 1 of 2 things would explain this .... the system admin somehow modified the ESK version or heck maybe ESK was just off for about 2 weeks or so and I just wasn't aware of it ? Got and Ideas anyone?

btw ~ I sure would love to see a new program by DonS to use on the Pro-107 and GRE's new PSR-700 .... WIN700 :)

I'm happy to see richtidd got all of his problems sorted out. I found it educational to see how the Pro-107 and the software handles conventional frequencies.

This thread made me go back and look at what is in the DB directory on my SD card as well as the PC. It turns out that every library I've ever downloaded was on the SD card as well as the PC. I had library versions 3 through 9 in both locations. I never wondered if the software was deleting the previous versions when updating to a new library.

I can see the day when people start complaining about "Why do I get a memory card full error?" or something like that. I'd like to recommend that in future versions of the PC software the option to delete old libraries be offered.

My .02 cents (with today's prices is worthless)

I am seriously considering ordering one of these scanners. I currently own a PSR-500 and a BCD396XT. So I got digital covered. These look very interesting!! Either this or a BCT15X or an older Pro-2096.

lol, so you want a analog ht, analog mobile/base, or digital base/mobile. since digital is covered i would go between the 15x and a 107 and choose depending whether you want a ht or mobile/base more. I would prefer Uniden myself but I too just HAD to HAVE the 107 as it was new technology and I do really enjoy having it so far, looking forward to a digital model, already saving my pennys one at a time! lol

Fatal Error!

My Pro 107 is only hours old, and I'm getting

Fatal Error:
SD Read Error
0002D4 : 1

I power off, and on and get:

Init SD Card

I then can no longer power off by the button on the front of the unit.

Just sitting here, it changed to

Fatal Error:
No SD Card found
000003 : 0

It then will power off,

I bought this because I was so confused with my pro 95. I could program it, and it worked fine, but the technical stuff totally confused me.

I have downloaded the software, and set the card up. I have entered towns and stuff into the playlists, and all looked great. This is frustrating because I have a lot of things to do tonight, and was not planning on trouble shooting my new "toy".

Any suggestions in "simple" language?

Thanks,

Joyce

EDIT: I have been running the unit on an AC adapter, and it works great! When it is running on the rechargable batteries, it seems to show the Fatal Errors?!? Yes, the batteries are charged, and I switched the little switch in the battery compartment to the rechargables.

load the SD card into your computer/card reader, open pro-107 software, goto SD card menu and select format the card and then re-upload the library to the card, re-insert in scanner and boot it back up, if it is still giving you same error try another SD Card if you have any extras around, data on SD card could be corrupt or maybe the card itself is bad...

Yeah, I have digital covered but I would like to have a base digital (2096).

But the new tech of the 107 has my interest peaked. I'm gonna do some more research and decide. I really don't like the fact that you can't program the 107 in any way (storing CTCSS/DCS tones, etc.) by hand.

I'd really like to see a video (posted to youtube or some other video site) of the 107 in action or a small video review. That would be awesome.
