This morning I'm getting site 15-0404 and it's showing 005-0202 (not in the DB) as a neighbor on 387.7375 which used to be a freq for the Raven Rock site. Also showing 385.9625 as the current control channel for Raven Rock.

Hearing more and more talkgroups from outside AA County on the JCNR site. I used to think this was due to radios associating with the local Naval Academy and Ft Meade sites, and I think it was.

But more frequently now hearing Pax River NAS, and now the Navy Yard, Walter Reed, and Joint Base Andrews.

Andrews is currently very active today on 25260, 25156 and others in advance of the Thunderbird airshow for Saturday. They are apparently practicing today.

Today was the dress rehearsal for the Air Show tomorrow. Interestingly, I was looking at hte list of approved and banned items for the Air Show tomorrow - one of the banned items - "radio scanners"

It seems that whatever they are doing to upgrade the JCNR site is causing communications to be covering a wider area than before. Seems like the radios are associating with a wider range of the existing sites in the region.

I think I even saw a Ft Dietrick talkgroup the other day coming off the Meade site.

I don't think you would see a whole lot more airshow Saturday on base vs off. If I wanted to listen I would just find a good off base location and bring the scanner.

On the banned items list, I completely get the knives, guns, ammunition, chemical irritants, fireworks, illegal drugs, drones, etc.

Rollerblades, skateboards, and scanner radios seem like they should not be on the same list.

Go to the Oceana show instead - they allow scanners, as well as the Pax show in October. The chair force is a bit reactionary / contradictory about security - one of their UH-1Ns - that's right, a Huey - had their radio presets hidden by a piece of notebook paper a few years ago. When the F-35 visited Oshkosh earlier this summer, they didn't open the weapons bays for "security" reasons, meanwhile, the F-22 sitting next to it did (and there are published photos elsewhere of open F-35 bays.) Kinda like teachers in Texas...

As for the USNA site, it looks like its peered with Pax, and is allowing at least fire / police TGs to be shared between those systems. I'm also seeing Washington Navy Yard FD traffic - perhaps there is an overall fire chief for NDW who wants access to all his groups where ever he/she is? If so, you'd think that Carderock and Indian Head would be seen as well... maybe a different asst chief? IDK.

Does Ft Meade peer up with any naval facilities, or Joint Base Andrews?

Fort Meade peers with Pax River, that's it for Navy. Here's the whole peer list for 007-0101:

Interesting. I'm sure that an Army program must be testing at Pax (H-60, possibly a drone at Webster Field.) Conversely, the Navy does have some offices at Ft Meade.

Drove down to the Andrews area this morning -- busy little system today. Pro96Com saw 55 talkgroups on the Andrews site in the few hours I was down there. I heard activity on at least 31 of the 55. Some Andrews talkgroups patched over to the Prince George talkgroups (I assume for maintaining comms with the parking areas at Fedex stadium).

Still active as parking lots are emptying. Lots of lost children earlier in the day. Pretty continuous Andrews activity off the Ft Meade site all day long.

25149 seemed to be the key security talkgroup today. Some 25150.

Not a peep from this one yesterday as several others were active

They were surprisingly effective at reuniting lost kids with their families.

Sounds like Fedex Field was the parking location and only buses from there went thru the Andrews gates.

Sounded like quite a patrol of golf carts and Segways for security and a small fleet of EMS personnel in their own golf carts.

So has it been confirmed that the old JBA radio system is now off line?

What we can say for certain is that it is no longer a "stand-alone" system. It is a networked site on the JNCR.

DC Scanning: Joint Base Andrews Using JNCR System

Same frequencies and still P25 so both old and new frequency programming should/would still work I guess but the talkgroup IDs are all different ... The other difference is now that you're likely to hear more than Andrews on the JBA system/site and JBA can be heard on older JNCR sites (lots on JBA activity on the Fort Meade site).

The new Regional Dispatch Center Manager is slated to start in October at the Navy Yard. The Navy Yard will be dispatching all of NDW in addition to the responsibilities now on their plates.
