I don't often listen to Fort Meade sites but was wondering if there would be any "interesting" activity related to the Inauguration events since this a multi-site system.

736 - RID: 7000xx (Fort Meade?)

The 25xxx talkgroups are (I believe) Andres AFB (or Joint Base Andrews as it's called these days). I'm fairly certain the 7xx's are something on Ft. Meade - with all of the construction over there, you can probably expect alot of new stuff over time. I'd also noticed some unusual 3 digit talkgroups on either the Ft Meade or DOD system - could be related to the inauguration - could be something else. JNCR routinely has activity for connected sites being carried that is no where near Ft Meade.

Thanks for the information. Might have to start listening more. Didn't realize that so many different location users often affiliate on both Fort Meade and Naval Academy Sites from faraway locations.

Depends on activity, where some radio users might be (associated with sites they might not normally) and other things.

Pax River activity is common as well as a number of others. Navy Yard, Walter Reed, and others. Some come thru the Academy site and others thru Meade.

I have been updating systems and talkgroups in both my PSR-500 and HP436. I have not listened to the US Naval Academy in quite a while. After programming all of the system freqs and talk groups. I have yet to receive a single thing. I know it is not a distance issue as I am only 8 miles from Greenbury Point TX, and I can RX the CCH. Would they be P25 Auto or Motorola for system type, tried both no joy. Thanks in advance.

It's a P25 system.

Do you see talkgroups stop the scan but hear no traffic, or do you just see and hear absolutely no activity?

P25 (it is a Harris system.) It is an active system with routine traffic. USNA traffic is normally carried on the USNA site, so make sure that is enabled, and lock out distant sites. For example, I live in Annapolis, but the USNA site is the only site I can receive at home.

Absolutely no activity. The USNA TG's and frequencies are the only things I have programmed for this system.

Activity coming through the USNA site is the Academy police and fire as well as more distant intermittent activity from Patuxent NAS, Joint Base Andrews, the Navy Yard in DC, and other locations because of radios associating with those other talkgroups that are within USNA area. Others such as Walter Reed and this past week, some activity related to security at the Inaugural were heard.

In my case, I have both the Naval Academy and Fort Meade sites of the Joint National Capital Region regularly active, but find the others out of range. Some of the above stuff came thru the Ft Meade site.

This is an interesting system to have all sites active when mobile around the DC and Maryland areas, whether it be in the Frederick area, or Northern Virginia or other places a little further south than Anne Arundel, especially if you use GPS location control scanning. Lots of interesting stuff.

Using P25 you should have no trouble at all within 8 miles to receive a very strong signal. I get it 5 bars strong with portable or back of set antennas from 30 miles. Ft Meade also strong but not quite as strong as the Naval Academy.

The CCH is very strong. signal strength does not appear to be an issue. Perhaps someone could share their settings?

Using the 436, what I would do is make sure all of your programming is saved in Sentinel, then create a new favorites list that contains only the JNCR system, and make that list active. Then lock out all the sites except Ft Meade and USNA, and make sure the USNA TGs are not locked out. Sentinel should do all the "settings" for you (I've never had to adjust them.)

Ditto. This should work fine.
