Hi, I am sort of confused about something.

If I am able to receive one site, will all communications on this system be recieved by me on said site?

Or do they separate things by area or site?

In other words, is one site all I need to receive all of the transmissions, or is each site only receiving transmissions for its own area?

I guess ill add to this thread.

During the storms the other night that landed a EF-1 tornado in Shelby County, multiple KU and LG&E units were talking to their dispatch offices. I don't have a talk group ID however they were told to operate on Rural West Storm 1 as well as other storm channels.

I would imagine the KU system is built out similar to this one: Alliant Energy Trunking System, Various, Multi-State - Scanner Frequencies

On the BCD536HP, is there anyone I can set it up to monitor all communications on a site, regardless of talkgroup? If so, how?
I have all of the talkgroups I know of programmed in, but I have a feeling that there are more.

In Sentinel, edit the Favorites List containing the system. In the system options, set ID Search to On. That acts as a trunked system's search function. It will stop on any talkgroup, programmed or otherwise. Programmed talkgroups will display the Alias/Name, unprogrammed talkgroups display only the TGID number. (If you hit the Avoid button, it will disregard any subsequent channel grants involving the given TGID.)

Awesome, thanks!

Also, I noticed when the system first got up and running (first several months or so), I would hear KU workers talking in farther away areas. For instance, I would hear workers mention places up in Lexington. Any idea on why I am only hearing local traffic now? I am referring to the Beverly (Bell County) site.

This is what I have programed for KU in Morganfield for the last month and a half but I haven't heard a thing.

Morganfield 1-451.150000AutoDigital Code SearchUtilitiesOff2secTone=1 / Volume=6Magenta / Fast Blink0NoneOff
Morganfield 2-451.525000AutoDigital Code SearchUtilitiesOff2secTone=1 / Volume=6Magenta / Fast Blink0NoneOff
I have this programed a conventional though, can someone walk me through changing it to the right programming (DMR)

This old age stuff isn't easy.

Is it possible that KU is still using conventional channels in some areas? The other night while I was doing a search on my BCD536HP, I got an active transmission on 452.700. It was a DMR channel (CC 0). I've looked into it and the only match I can find (with DMR CC 0) is this site of the new KU System:
4002 (2)IrvineEstill452.700c

I have been receiving traffic on this channel daily for about a week now, and I am not really confident that I am actually receving this site which is ~60 miles away from me.

So, I also know that before the new DMR Tier III system, 452.700 was in use for Pineville (Bell County) which is very close to me:
452.700WPLY670BMPineillePineville (Bell County)P25Utilities

So is it possible that the old conventional channels are still being used as well by KU, just in DMR mode?
Any help is appreciated! :)

You're hearing the control channel for the tier 3 system then. Did you pick up a site number? It's probably not in the database yet
Thank you. Also, do you mind telling me how to find the site number on this scanner? I am not seeing one?
