• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Hello,

Wondering if Kenwood (OEM) makes a 2-pin headset with a mic at the chest/lapel and then a surveillance earpiece. There are so many options and online searches bring up mostly off-brand stuff.

I’ve seen several with c-ring (KHS-31C) or d-ring but I’d like just the clear tube.

I’ve also seen the KHS-8 but it looks like the mic goes down your sleeve. I’d rather it be at the lapel or near the top of your shirt.

Similar to the attached pic but official Kenwood. Or if you know of a really good off brand that might even be better. Thanks in advance

Not from Kenwood.

Otto has a two wire surveillance setup that probably matches what you are looking for. Otto is a well respected company that makes a lot of LMR audio products, including some of the OEM products.

Maybe the KHS-9BL three wire? This one has the clear tube earpiece with a mic you can clip to your lapel and then a PTT button that you put in your hand.

Thank you! This looks like what I need. I wonder why Kenwood doesn’t make one. If Otto is a trusted option I’ll look into that.

I would checkout Otto Engineering, Planet Headset, and Klein Electronics for your radio accessory needs. I have for decades and still use Otto Eng. for my audio accessory needs. However, Otto has discontinued supporting some radio models. So, within the last year or so, I have tried the audio accessories from both Planet Headset and Klein Electronics and I have been impressed with their products.

Depending on the type of audio accessories you need, another source may be Racing Radios or Racing Electronics. In anycase, it is worth the look to see if any of their products will meet your needs. In the past, I have had them do custom work for me.

If your Kenwood model radio uses the two-pin connector, that would be the K1 connector. You will need to specify that connector if you order from Planet Headset or Kleins Electronics.
