I kind of figured that would be the case. Too much overlap in the hill country and 35 corridor not to. How would potential LLA implementation affect that down the road though?
LLA is partially implemented on GATRRS (as in actively used for select groups) so there are radios out there with LLA and work fine on both systems right now.

Link Layer Authentication. Essentially the radios are loaded with an encryption algorithm that the system uses to encrypt the registration handshake of the radio. If the algorithm exchange is is successful, then the radio is authenticated on the radio system (approved for use). This encryption algo is separate from talkgroup encryption. It's a method to keep unauthorized users off the system (i.e. those who have the ability to clone radio IDs). LLA shouldn't be confused with LLE (Link Layer Encryption) which is where the entire OTA data stream is encrypted (i.e. not even scanners or SDRs would be capable of monitoring without the correct key).

Thanks for updating that. LLA in theory should be all any SysAdmin should ever need to be secure when coupled with encryption for sensitive stuff. LLE just violates the 8th amendment for us scanner users, lol

In Kerrville today and Kerr SO is on LCRA, TG 10004, SDS100 indicates it's a patch. In the clear.

Probably patched to their unencrypted SO 1 channel on GATRRS. It doesn't carry all the traffic and dispatchers call it the "clear" channel. They routinely tell deputies that they are on the clear channel and switch back to "encrypted while on scan."

In Kerrville today listening to Gattrs, found an unknown TG. 16293, RID 10381525/26 and 25302. Using first names, conversation about an address on HWY 27 near the Kerrville airport and TCEQ. Also conversation about sending a drone back for a replacement and having everyone meet back at the EOC. I did not see that TG in the RRDB.

If is not the proper location for this post please advise.

The 162XX groups are definitely State talk groups, I just haven’t ever figured out who they actually belong to. I’ve heard locations in Georgetown, Capitol, Lockhart, Kerrville, etc. on those. 16287, 288, 289 have been the most active historically.
