Note that the city said they were going to patch Fire Event 4 to Police for interop, but the City calls provider isn't providing that talkgroup I don't think.

Shortly after it occurred, MDTAP ops on Key Bridge/Port of Baltimore was moved to Channel 1 which is 7101 (Police - Fort McHenry Tunnel/Harbor Tunnel /Maryland Transportation Authority.

The traffic is on Broadcastify. Crazy to listen too.

I provide the Baltimore City and FIRST (Baltimore Simulcast) call nodes.

I added BFD Fireground 4-1 and all other FG4 channels this afternoon to the streaming list in SDRTrunk that sends to the calls platform. I also added MD TAC 6 (one of the other node providers has been streaming that one already) .

If there are any other TGs that should be added out of those two systems, please let me know.

While a terrible tragedy, I am glad I was able to help provide audio for this event and help inform the public on what is going on.

Watching local news and no one has mentioned the steering failure, the puff of black smoke, nor the lights all going out.

All they do know for sure is that it's not terror related.
Interesting how it's automatically assumed to not be terror related, before the investigation was even begun.

I remember a few years ago a movie (Drama/Adventure) where terrorists were able to hijack a cruise liner due to all of the automated systems.

Seems pretty quick to rule something out without evidence.

This is the part I'm referring to.

E-mail phishing could allow hackers to gain access to the internal systems of the ship through targeting passengers and crew members with the e-mails. There have been reports of researchers being able to take control of a ship by spoofing its GPS and gaining the ability to manipulate operation controls, including ship propulsion. This research shows the potential for a cruise ship to be virtually hijacked and its controls released only after a payment is made to the hijackers.


We'll have to wait for the investigation to be completed.

The ship's distress call was made around 12:30 AM time frame per the video Lindsay posted. So, officials already had an idea it was not intentional from the start.
The ship (navigated by a local harbor pilot) made a distress call telling people there's a serious problem. He knew to make the call knowing what local resources would be monitoring.
The folks who jump on the conspiracy theory before the investigation was even begun is just as much of a problem if not more.

I suspect Lindsay is in Central timezone, so his 12:30 is 1:30 in Baltimore. The ship didn't leave the dock until 12:30 ET, so I really doubt it immediately called out a mayday especially while being pulled by tugs.

Maryland Pols are already on TV saying we need to get that channel open and port operating soon.
Lots of heavy gear in this area from Army Corp etc like crane dredges and start cutting up that steel.
They could probably leave flat road beds down there for now but see what they do for that.
Overall just such a sad and crazy day.. What are the odds a ship like that has super power failure probably in the worst spot
of upper Ches Bay area.. :(

You may be correct with the timezone and its impact is minimal for the point I was trying to make.
As of now, there are no indications it was intentional. It's sad to see folks put forth this much energy into "wanting" it to be an act of terrorism.
I don't have inside info, and most of on here probably don't either. But based on what we do have access to, there has been no mention of this being intentional.
The fact the FBI has deemed no threat, and the harbor pilot made a distress call are very strong indications there's no evil intent.
