NO LONGER HEARING TRAFFIC FOR THOMAS COUNTY AGENCIES

I am troubleshooting my inability to pickup any KSICS traffic for my local police & sheriff (Talkgroup 1352), and EMS that I noticed yesterday (Feb 1) on both my Homepatrol and BCD325P2 scanners. I also fired up my RTL dongle and am not getting any traffic locally. I realize today is Sunday and it may be a really quite day for the first responders.

On Friday (1-31) I heard police units were being called to the Station for radio reprogramming. Saturday evening I heard no police radio traffic. I thought is that maybe the police went encrypted. However, on my RTL dongle SDRtrunk software I can see in the Events list that neighboring County law enforcement agencies (that have been encrypted for many months) are transmitting and encrypted. So I assume my local police would also show up in that Events list if they have started doing encrypted traffic. I checked the RR Database to see if the control channel has changed. I did noticed the Colby Tower antenna site had a change in the license on January 15 but if I'm reading the FCC database correctly, it was just a change to the contact name and email change.

I have my Homepatrol programmed to monitor the Halford Tower site (9 miles from me) and the 325P2 monitors the Colby Tower site (3 miles from me) which are both located in Thomas County. I am picking up the KHP traffic on the Halford Tower so I assume that means the tower control channel has not changed.

I did set my 325P2 to "ID Search" rather than "ID Scan" which, as I understand this radio, will play any Talkgroup it hears on the Tower Site.

It looks like theThomas County / Colby PD talkgroup has gone encrypted. Several months back I had captured a few squad car Radio ID's and tagged them in SDRtrunk as either Sheriff or PD Units. Apparently those units came on duty a couple hours ago and SDRtrunk showed them in a encrypted Call Group. I haven't figure out why the Dispatch Radio ID didn't show up and no where was the software showing the Talkgroup was in a encrypted call group.

It guess it's time to sell my 45 day old BCD352P2 scanner.

I noticed that the Kingman site isn't showing any control channel frequencies. Does anybody have any insight as to which ones are CC's and if any Alt CC's?

Thanks

Typically, the 2nd frequency is the control channel and the 3rd is the alternate. That was told to me by a Motorola tech.

I'll plug those in and give them a shot. Heading to Wichita later this week, so will see what happens. Thanks

The weird thing is doing a license search on the callsign assigned to the Kingman tower reveals a GMRS license to an individual in Tennessee. Maybe it was a typographical error?

Not necessarily, when they set up our system we were told the 2 highest freqs are always the control channels. Which we know is not always the case, but....guess it depends on the project manager/engineer.
I've stil got Pro96Com on my computer at home. Let me see if I can fire it up this evening and see what it shows.

856.7125 is the correct current control channel for the Kingman tower. dg

Does anyone in the Kansas City area know if KCK Fire dept dispatch is monitorable? Is it on the MARRS system?
