I think there's still room for some discussion. The fact that the app still isn't ready tells me there have been a lot more problems then Uniden anticipated with it. Did they over extend themselves trying to make the ultimate scanner? Maybe. But now they're committed to delivering the app, so they're in a bit of a rough spot right now. It'll take time, but I'm reasonably confident that an app will appear soon.
I tend to agree with folks who say these scanners were rushed to market, but I also remember that we as a group were quite impatient to get our hands on them. While I'm sure that didn't sway Paul's decision on when to release the scanners, I bet his upper management was all over him to get the scanners out now, now, NOW while there was so much interest and buzz on the internet about them. I've worked for a large Japanese company before (no, not Uniden, this particular company makes cars), and they seemed to operate under the model of "when your boss says jump, you jump, even if it's right over a cliff". So Paul really didn't have a choice in the matter if it was his bosses making him push the scanners out the door before they were finished. After all, the guy who signs the checks gets to make the rules. Everyone else gets to do it his way or hit the highway. That's just how it is.
For some folks, that's a reasonable explanation. For others, like our friend who has me on supposed ignore, no answer is good enough. For a while there, you were starting to sound like him, so I had some fun with ya over it. Thanks for being such a good sport about it. Our aforementioned "friend" could use a few lessons in that regard. A few shotglasses full of chill-out juice would probably help too.
Happy Friday!
