Yep.. As someone once said, the simplest explanation is usually the right one.

I like my BCD436HP...but...
From the official Uniden announcement...
Analysis Modes include Band Scope, RF Power Plot, Trunked System Analysis, and EDACS/LTR LCN Finder.
WebHome < NewScanners < TWiki
Is this a deal breaker for me? No, but it IS supposed to have that (those) function(s).
Yes, but was that false advertising? I don't think so. It's not like we were promised a top-of-the-line scanner and then opened the box to find a $10 toaster. And Paul was very up front BEFORE release day about the fact that these features were not yet ready so anyone who felt that the scanner wasn't worth buying because of that had plenty of time to cancel their pre-orders and pay nothing. Same goes for the Siren app. Paul made it very clear that it was NOT going to release with the scanner as originally planned, well before anyone had their radio.
I see nothing whatsoever deceptive about anything Uniden has said or done. That kind of upfront honesty is rare in Corporate America these days. Try getting anything out of most mail-in rebate offers these days if you don't believe me. Companies offer those because they make millions from people who either forgot to send it the rebate or didn't follow each little instruction to the letter and made themselves ineligible for it. A mail in rebate is the same as a cleaning deposit on an apartment: It is Money You Will Never See Again.

Jay - just admit it. You didn't get what you paid for. I don't care whether you "care" about the Analyze feature or not, but your money paid in part for it.
But you can keep spinning spinning spinning. I know it's easier than saying "OK, I was wrong".
I should have NEVER posted that!
I said absolutely nothing at all about it being false advertising.
I'm done before I get accused of saying something else I didn't say.
I STRONGLY believe that the very people here who claim to be hunky-dory with not getting everything they paid for are in fact doing a DISSERVICE to the scanner community at large.
How so?
Well, by figuratively allowing Uniden to bend them over a barrel they are sending a VERY CLEAR MESSAGE to them that they don't have to give you what you paid for. You make it easier for them to cut corners because you don't complain and, in fact, you do the complete opposite and carry the water for them.
But they're too blinded by the Uniden Kool-Aid to see.
Jay,
Are you sure you're not a politician?
You have a knack for spinning things to your point.
You clearly have invested so much energy into singing the praises of the new Unidens that you are literally avoiding reality. You simply can't accept it.
Jay911, does the box and Uniden advertising clearly show that the Analyze app is a feature of these scanners? Of course it does.
Yet here you are, claiming that MAYBE it was IMPLIED that it would be a feature.
Do you really believe what you are saying here?
How do you know what features are REALLY included and which ones are not?
Look at you with your $10 words! Cognitive something, bah I already lost interest.

I thought it was ironic that I was linking to Simple Wikipedia for his partner in crime while he was pecking at the keys managing to whack out 'cognitive dissonance'.

And you don't have it.

Jay - when you sit down at a restaurant and order a meal are you OK with not getting everything that was listed on the menu? I mean, after all, you've been around the block a few times, right? Surely you don't mind.
you need professional help. Seek it.
It has been a select group of trouble makers that have turn each and every thread opened on the App upside down and cause it to derail because they either love Uniden that much (which is creepy), Have a hand on the payroll, or are just drama lovers and need to stick their two sense. You can say it was me but, it was funny how I start mentioning real things and all of a sudden I am on the sites radar and threads started to close. I even got my first warning since being a member for derailing an already derailed thread.
I made an analogy earlier but you must have missed it in the red mist. I paid for a new pickup truck with navigation and media connectivity to my phone. I don't have media connectivity to my phone with this version of the software in the nav console. By your line of thinking, I should be all over the Ford forums, thrashing about and screaming bloody blue murder. Right?
As I read thorugh this thread, and the response from Paul, I gazed over to my HP-1 units and was reminded of issues occurring with those units where firmware fixes were promised and never delivered.
The same issued transferred to the new units, as was well documented in these forums.
So, I guess the HP-1 is old news, and we will probably never see a firmware update again for those radios.
Shame.
I wonder of this fate is in store for the 436 and 536 down the road....?
This is my last attempt to reason with you.
