Does anyone know of any local scanner stores? I am ready to pick up a new toy but don't really want to wait for shipping, and also like to see things not just pics. I want SDS100 or a 436HP based on what I have been reading.

I think most are online unless u can find one at a pawn shop, radio shack sold theirs at stores but Uniden is mostly online, unless Walmart or someone has them

Amazon has the 436 and sds100, with prime shipping you hcan have it in a day or 2. My buddy got his 436 from amazon when they had the 50$ off.
The sds100 is only needed if you have strong simulcast or you want to customize your screen to your liking.

I have yet to find any locally unfortunately.
Even the truck stops which used to carry police scanners along with cb radios and radar detectors but I haven't seen any scanners in any of the truck stops I've visited since radio shack closed......sorry!
Giga Parts in Las Vegas has a storefront and sells Uniden. Shipping these days is very quick barring weather related delays. You can pay extra for expedited shipping. I remember ordering from Heathkit in the sixties and waiting 6 weeks for the package to arrive via Railroad Express. Las Vegas to Salt Lake should be three days via priority mail. Ham Radio Outlet has a store in Denver. They are closed except for curb side pick up. Again, shipping should be fast.
Our office etc which has/had RadioShack inside switched and was selling Uniden’s, but they weren’t the digital ones, I think just the analogs, that’s been a bit though
After the post showed an actual store in Layton I looked at their website for scanners and they are all analog as well.

Was kinda what Io figured but was hoping someone knew a secret hidden treasure. I was looking at ordering a SDS100 but they are all sold out or back ordered. I am considering a 386HP but am concerned with what I have read about simulcast sites which UCAN has quite a few.
There isn't a problem with analog simulcast sites like we have now. The problem is with digital P25 sites. The Harris system that will replace our current system could cause problems for you, but it depends a lot on exactly where you are in relation to the repeater sites in the simulcast area.
Not knowing what exactly the new Harris system will mean for us, I went with the SDS100 to kinda future proof myself.
Its a hard pill to swallow with that price point, but Ive been happy with it.

With no local stores, money in the bank, stimulus coming soon.... I bit the bullet and ordered a 436HP today that is expected to arrive next Monday.
