Well that explains why dsd says those freqs are site 2 and the license lists those freqs as control point 1.
Not sure about that. With an empty frequency file my DSD FastLane was showing 460.225 as "Cap+ Site:2 DCC:1".
Keep in mind I am a bit rusty when it comes to DSD. Looking back on my logs it has been a while since I last used the software.

Correct. A naked dsd (no populated freq, sites or networks file) will display any info it gets from the datastream and will not be influenced by anything in the editable files.

Prior to using unpopulated dsd files, I was initially thrown off because as seen below, Justin's file suggests that Nesconset is site 1, ( according to the way dsd freq file is formatted ). So I edited the sites, network and freq file to reflect that information.

Code:
Justin's download

; SMITHTOWN TOWN OF WQSE878 Loc 1 NESCONSET
Cap+, 3513884, 1, 99, 453.225000, 0.0, 0
Cap+, 3513884, 1, 99, 453.850000, 0.0, 0
Cap+, 3513884, 1, 99, 460.225000, 0.0, 0
Cap+, 3513884, 1, 99, 460.437500, 0.0, 0

And when I ran it, it was saying,
current site: 3513884.1 Nesconset and
current site: 3513884.2 at the same time.

with justin.JPG

And running dsd on 460.225 without any populated freq file shows this,

with out.JPG

So like GTR8000 said, Justin's site uses the control point info from the license as default sites.

OK. So this is what I know so far:
453.225, 460.225, 453.850, and 460.4375 all broadcast with CC1

They all seem to be licensed to the same call and grouped to the same transmitter location (Nesconset).
460.225 and 453.225 will show on DSD Plus that they belong to site 2 and also broadcast rest channel information all the time.
At one point, while going through those 4 frequencies, I had DSD show me that it's neighbor list is site 1.

(Keep in mind this systems is very quiet. Finding the LCN is almost impossible at this time due to the lack of traffic and activity)

I dropped in 460.3375 which is under the same license but another location, Fort Solanga and Kings Park. I was seeing some data on here, but it is full of errors from my location. I'm too far out to get a enough signal.

So from here on out, I am only able to try and decipher what might be the layout on Site 2 (Nesconset). I hope to see some activity so I can start to map out the 4 channels in this system.

At one point, while going through those 4 frequencies, I had DSD show me that it's neighbor list is site 1.

Site one freqs are as follows,
Code:
;
SMITHTOWN TOWN OF WQSE878 Loc 5 site 1 KINGS PARK

Cap+, 3513884, ?, 99, 453.162500, 0.0, 0
Cap+, 3513884, 1, 99, 453.187500, 0.0, 0
Cap+, 3513884, 1, 99, 453.250000, 0.0, 0
Cap+, 3513884, 1, 99, 460.200000, 0.0, 0 also on this freq is babylon village dmr
Cap+, 3513884, 1, 99, 460.337500, 0.0, 0 freq is listed with fort salonga also but showed as site 1.

OK. So this is what I know so far:
453.225, 460.225, 453.850, and 460.4375 all broadcast with CC1
They all broadcast site 2 also.
453.2250 1st cap repeater ch 1 & 2
453.8500 2nd cap repeater ch 3 & 4
460.4375 nothing yet
460.2250 nothing yet
Started the lcn finder on the 436 last night and as of now, 2 30 pm, its showing 3 of 4 found.

(Keep in mind this systems is very quiet. Finding the LCN is almost impossible at this time due to the lack of traffic and activity)

If more Smithtown residents would call and report road hazards, there would be more activity, lol. All I heard yesterday was something about a dead animal.

I have not been able to get anything on the 3rd site, Fort Salonga.

Can confirm: Site 2 LCN1 = 453.225
And TG 102 is DPW. They are going to pickup some road kill now.

I also don't believe 460.225 is LCN 2. When I see Ch 3 active I don't hear anything on any of the 4 frequencies listed for the Nesco location. It must be something else.

Site 2 LCN2 = 453.850

So 453.850 = lcn 2 = lsn 3&4.

This is what dsd gave me originally a month ago.
453.2250 1st cap repeater ch 1 & 2
453.8500 2nd cap repeater ch 3 & 4
460.4375 nothing
460.2250 nothing

Today left sdr and dsd running today on 460.4375 and only got this. Meant to leave 460.225 running also but totally forgot on my way out.

Looked thru the event file and I don't see anything about a channel 6.

I wonder how DSD+ gave the LCN? Did it sort by frequency order?
I can confirm LCN 1 & 2 (Or LSN 1,2,3,4). I had a radio parked on both and heard conversations when DSD+ said I should have activity on each. For my own enjoyment, I left DSD+ on for a while on 453.225 and when I see ch 1 or 2, I heard audio. When I left it on 453.850, I see LCN 3 & 4 light up and hear activity.

With what seems only 1 active user on this system, I am not surprised we don't see Ch 3 & 4 lighting up.
I am fairly confident that 460.225 is Ch 3 and 460.4375 is Ch 4

I'm going to try this and run it tonight into tomorrow. I'm up at 7 and their site says they start at 7 also.

Code:
  lcn lsn

    1 1 453.225
    2 3 453.850
    3 5 460.225
    4 7 460.4375

I have my copy sitting on 460.4375 and will leave it there for at least the next 18 hours. I'm curious to see if any other activity shows up.
I'm pretty confident that we have this site's LCN squared away. If we do, I'll move the system from Staged to published in the RRDB.

Nice work guys, I just wish I knew what you are talking about! ;-) As a retired programmer and IT guy, I'm lost with these digital radio freq stuff for the most part and all the acronyms.

But, just wanted to wave the hand at Dave as I grew up in East Islip and Great River. I'm out in Brookhaven Hamlet, if you guys need anything "simple" ;) tested out this way (further out east), I'd be more than willing to give it a whirl for you.

w2lie, can you fix the spelling in the Alpha Tag under the Suffolk Type II system, for MacArthur... the TG 1616 has an "author". ;)
