As usual; heard on the Bastrop site (3-12) in discovery mode with an HP2 which records anything not in the main database.

6708 - Seems to be ULM PD Talk, don't know why they using an unknown TG when they have 3 in the database. Maybe its new. The radio ID's match those used on the dispatch channel but still holding out on submission for definitive proof, obviously.

7583 - No idea. Two sided 4 mostly unintelligible second conversation.

52504 - A city PD unit was calling a city FD unit in the middle of heavy PD/FD traffic. Defiantly a TAC/TALK channel but unsure if its PD, FD, or parish-wide.

Update on 6708

I've heard ULM PD, someone in the library talking about banners, and someone from maintenance. Seems like a campus-wide multi talk of some sort. Not very active but a few more transmissions and I'll have enough for submission.

Update on 52504

This may be a parish-wide interop TG. I forgot to add that the Fire unit never answered. But it was defiantly a city PD unit trying to get ahold of the Fire chief during a fire call in the city limits (city fire covers half the parish, the rest is all VFD). And I haven't heard it again since.

Once again on 6856 I am pretty sure this is Acadian Ambulance. Many of the units working parades today were on this channel as well as on Ops 3. Does anyone know what this channel is called? The units on 6856 were working the parade in New Roads today.

-HP2 on Bastrop Site-

6603 - Confirmed David Wade Correctional Center. I've got about 30 transmissions and it sounds like they were doing security checks for different zones. Heard transports on this ID in the past.

55003 - Unknown units doing voice checks on this ID saying they couldn't use another TGID. Numbering is around East Carroll Parish allocation.

-HP2 on Calhoun Site-

6568 - a single transmission "1643's 10-8"

7583 - large group of units doing some kind of operation. Code names were used. Could be SRT, SWAT, or some other units.

51095 - a single key-up transmission with no voice. Numbering is around Jackson Parish allocation.

Has anyone ever noticed a talkgroup starting with a lowercase "i" on the system?

Picked up two talkgroups from the Bastrop Site (3-12), radio ID's didn't even show up. The same voice was heard on the first one as the second. Talking informally about narcotics activity.

This is the log entry, the numbers last to the right is the radio ID. Never seen one show up as 0 when active transmissions being made. Blocked? Feds?

Uniden HP-2.

This is my first scanner I've ever used on the system. After two months of many many sets of discovery mode runs; this is the first time I've logged it. Maybe they are just now starting to play with it? Idk, I didn't even know what i-call was till milf pointed it out. Now I found the section in the manual and put the wildcard in my favs so maybe I'll hear it again in the future.

I heard some I-calls on Entergy's P25 phase ii system with my 436HP but never on LWIN with that same scanner even in ID search mode. Is there some obscure setting somewhere that I have turned off that is preventing me from hearing I-calls?

State Police Supervisors and above and maybe a few others but most end users at the local levels are not allowed.

Ahh, ok. Dang it. I used to love to listen to those candid conversations made by individuals who thought that private call really meant private.

You know, that's probably a good thing because if every user had private calls and phone patches available on his radio it would tie up all the frequencies on most site and there wouldn't be enough frequencies to handle the regular talkgroup traffic. Probably 99% of all the users on the system have no clue how a trunked system works and they would have no idea that when they use their phone patch to call their girlfriend that they are tying up one of the precious few frequencies on that site.

For some of you guys trying to figure out all those unknown St. Landry Parish ID's I will be of help. I just discovered the existence of the ProScan software which you can use to VOX record multiple talkgroups with a separate audio file for each. I currently have a 396XT running and connected to it 24/7. I put the scanner in id search mode and I entered all the known Troop I area talkgroups in scan lists and turned those lists off so that the software will only record talkgroups that are not entered which will be new unknown groups most of the time. After I get a good amount of recording I will share my notes here.
