I have a friend in Richmond, who was asking me today about this system. She plans on buying a new PSR-600 scanner to follow the emergency responders across the county. With that said, I did a search and found that Madison County has another application pending before FCC. Apparently, they want to add five new frequencies to the system, three of which will be at the Big Hill site.

Letter of Concurrence

Letter 1 from Sprint

Letter 2 from Sprint

FCC Pending Application

Harris Electronics, always uses a System ID of 001, when a P25IP TRS is in testing mode. Usually, they will switch it to a valid ID once the system goes live. When that happens, start looking for users to make the migration from the old to the new radio system.

Yours truly,

Ron

Scanning

Is anyone able to receive any Madison county activity on your scanners? I have a Uniden BC796D digital
scanner, I have programed the new freqs in as type 2/P25 800 but i can not receive the new date channel. Iv tried this with both the new and one TRS together and just the new TRS . I do get the old data channel but no activity when i add the old and the new i only get the old data channel. Does anyone have any hints for me? or is Madison county un scanable?

I have the new TRS working in a PSR 500 and BCD396T... not familiar with the 796, but the specs say it should track the system.... you might try programming the freqs but leaving out all the freqs listed as CCs in the old TRS... see what that does for you.... let us know in the forum so we can kinda keep track of the scanners that will follow it.... there is one Madison County rr.commer who has his PRO 96 following the system (although I can't get mine to track it) so there is hope!

No luck

Thanks for your help but no luck. I guess its time to start shopping for a new digital scanner. How do you like your PSR-500? witch seems to do better the PSR-500? or bcd-396t

I prefer the PSR 500 because of the way I work.... easier to use with one hand.... Scanner Master has them for $398.00, Don Starr's software Win 500 is $35.00 (you need software to keep track of everything)... The new TRS tracks well with either scanner, I have received some transmissions well into Lexington...

Pro-95

Does anyone know if a PRO-95 scanner can follow the systems in Madison County here now. I was using it fine but have not had it on it a month and so and now I can't seem to bring in anything. Also what system are they using now and how is it different from before. I am thinking of getting a Uniden BCD-396xt if I cant get this one to work soon.

Thanks

Anyone picking up anything on the new Madison County system with the new Uniden HomePatrol1 radio? I just got mine in today and will try and see what it can do tonight.

Yep it seems to be working fine. I am just trying to get my favorites list sorted out with the channels I want to monitor, but it is picking up everything just fine it seems.
