I have a puzzle. In the past I listened on 463.175 MHz, the Madison Medflight repeater, and heard both side of the conversation. Lately, I just hear the base station and despite listening on the output or input (468.175 MHz), I have not heard the helicopter side of the conversation? Anyone else experience this?

Also, I have tried listening on their DMR local comms, listening on CC 4 and slots 1 and 2, but no comms coming across (452.225 MHz). I live less than a mile from University Hospital, so should be hearing it. Anyone have any luck with this?

My guess is they are using WISCOM for their communications. Should be TG 8044

The actual frequency should be 453.2250. The talkgroup that I heard them on was TG 4. I am not sure if you have 453.225 or 452.2250 in your scanner.

Hi guys - thanks for suggestions, especially trying the WISCOM system. From my location in Madison, the 463.175 should be best, but the one side of teh conversation business was really puzzling me. I scanned 462.975 along with 463.175 (without CTCSS so as to capture all transmissions) and never heard any on 462.975, in my three days of on and off monitoring, just 463.175. Thanks also for the DMR tip - I will program TG 4, Idid not have that - do they use TS 1 or TS 2?

Was just wondering the same thing. Thanks for the info. Is anyone using an SDS100/200 to monitor the DMR frequency? I am not sure how to program it correctly, and it doesn’t seem to me that the RR database information is complete enough to get the DMR frequency into the scanner via Sentinel.

I have heard other medevac services (not MedFlight) on Dane Co area WISCOM sites in the last week or so.

452.225 is the internal dispatch, this gives the crew the destination they are headed to, a brief patient report and where they receive approval for the flight, not sure how far away from UW Hospital it gets, crew members will monitor this channel prior to going on the call. 463.175 and 462.975 are the helicopter to base channels, may or may not be much communication on this freq depending on whats going on. MARC 2 151.28 is used for LZ operations and a lot of the time patient reports are given on the 155.34/155.4 EMS channels and patched through to DaneCom assuming they are bringing the patient back to a Madison Hospital.
