Madison, Morris County New 700 System

For those that monitor Madison, PD is currently operating on the Morris County system on Police 9 due to their UHF system suffering a failure. Unknown where FD is operating, but presumably county as well.

PD is going to operate on County Police 9 until further notice, presumably until their new system goes live. FD/EMS UHF system is not affected by this system failure.

Thats surprising because during testing it covered well outside of Madison proper.

April 7th is the tentative date for the launch of this system. All talk groups were submitted to the DB, waiting for them to be posted. Also, conventional channel changes are as follows. With the exceptions of 471.225 and 474.100 all other UHF frequencies are being released back to the FCC. Three new Conventional P25 Channels were also added.

I enjoy hearing Madison on the County system, it’s a temporary blessing is disguise. On another note I cannot believe the town council allowed them to build this system out. I can only imagine how much it is going to cost in the long run. I personally wish they were going to be with the county permanently.

No switchover as of yet. I will post once I get an updated date of cutover.

I believe the County took a stance of "if you use our system then we have to dispatch you" awhile back and that still remains. Hence why all these other agencies are either building or built their own trunked system (Parsippany and Madison) or are a hodgepodge of everything from analog to P25, DMR, NXDN, VHF, UHF, 700.....

Bergen finally reversed course on that and look at all the Agencies hopping on. Makes sense.

Same thing in Monmouth county. The sheriff said: if you want to be on our system we have to dispatch you and you will be fully encrypted. ... And so it goes.... (PD only)

System update. The system is going live in 1-2 weeks. Still in the process of programming all of the radios.

The launch of their 700 system is imminent. Will either be going live this Friday, or next Monday. With their UHF system offline due to failure, they are remaining on the county system on Police D9 until the launch.

POLICE 7 and PD COUNTY
MIRS-1 and MIRS-700

Also caught what I believe is a new 700 talkgroup for the Jail instead of POLICE-13 on UHF. And there are some other Secure TGs which have County affiliations only (Sheriff, CC, Prosc, OEM) similar to what they have on UHF.

Madison PD is now active on the 700 system. Fire and EMS will be switched over by the end of the week.

@Coolant113 whomever submitted TG’s to the DB nice job. Most of the TG’s in the DB are active with affiliations and few few grants here and there. The Rose City is sleepy. Hit counter low.

I submitted them. Give it another week and the system will come alive.

One note about the TG that is dedicated to Drew University, they are not migrating over to the system. They will be maintaining their own system with capabilities to talk to Madison if need be on that TG.

I have TG 105, so far unidentified. No grants, plenty of affiliations by just (1) RID.
This RID does not join any other TG’s. Looks like majority of PD in clear with 20 percent or less on encrypted TG 106 as in DB.
