A while back I posted a link to the presentation by the state on the FiRST system. Included in the presentation is a map of the coverage. Since this is a pretty recent presentation and perhaps we can use this map and start correlating the control channels with the locations.

I was getting a good signal on site 107 while in the Still Pond area. I'm guessing it is somewhere in Kent County or possibly across the bay in Harford County.

Just an FYI

Maryland State Police put out a press release this morning...

On Tuesday, June 5th, Governor O'Malley is going to make the ceremonial first call over the new radio system sometime between 11:30am and 12:00 noon from the World Trade Center on East Pratt Street in the city. This wasn't sent as a pdf this time for some reason, but was inline text, otherwise I'd post the link.

Just thought it might be worth listening to.

Do you know if the transmission will be particular to a specific site or systemwide?

Might be systemwide?

This is from the press release:

The ceremonial first call on the new radio system made by Governor O’Malley will connect to Maryland State Police at the JFK Highway Barrack in Cecil County, Maryland State Police Headquarters in Pikesville, the Maryland Transportation Authority Police at the Chesapeake Bay Bridge and the Kent County Emergency Communications Center on the Eastern Shore of Maryland

The transmission is scheduled for Jun. 5th, so it will be on Tuesday.

Are there any active sites that are monitorable thru the I81 corridor currently?
I don't think there are any as of yet since no one has reported them, but if your in the area, try scanning the 768-776MHz range to see if you can find a site with a matching system ID.

Folks it is going to be hard to monitor this TDMA system! The map that was posted is the only region that is up and running. Everything else will come online over the years.

My PSR-800 at home (south of BWI) recorded 7 of hits on the Pikesville site today -- TGs 7301 and 8600

The only voice I got was a female saying "Pikesville" on TG 7301 at approx 1317. The other 6 hits were 2-5 seconds in duration with no voice**

Note: this radio was monitoring only the two Maryland FIRST sites listed on RR. If they talked over the system, it was on other than the freqs/system the RR database has.... or, it was only on the Elkton site --- **or it was Phase II TDMA and then none of us would have heard it.

Ahh...the Governor holds the radio backwards. Who doesn't love the shiny colorful display on the APX :D

As much as I'd love to criticize the gov, I'm pretty sure he was holding a multi-band radio that has two faces. He was probably talking into the 700 MHz side. Notice the PTT button was on the right side, as he held the radio.

Besides today's hit, have you seen an increased activity on other talkgroups/voice testing besides today's call?
