Operation REASSURANCE

Not necessarily refueling related...but;

Our friend Luke from Bangor/Greenwood found this interesting tidbit of info that may make MilComs interesting soon;
"Five Royal Canadian Navy (RCN) warships and four Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) aircraft will participate alongside NATO allies in a multinational fleet exercise that is taking place off the Atlantic Coast beginning August 5, and continuing throughout the month. "
(I see some of the task force has already arrived in Halifax Harbour.)

PlanePlotter Sharers Map updated

So I've updated the PlanePlotter (East Coast) Sharer's Map as of August 3rd.
Looks like a few people didn't take kindly to the recent DUMP1090 'upgrade' and bailed out.
We lost a lot of stations since my last (June) update.
I've added a layer displaying some of the major USAF AFB installations.

On a side note, I've swapped my previous DIY ADS-B antenna with a bit larger one.
With the gain up, the coverage is insane.
It's now an easy 200nm, 340 degree (darn tree) coverage. On a good day, I've had hits at over 300nm.
(The 'Range-Rings are set to 225nm).

Sure are here. Got some great views of them tied up and arriving.

Also Look, that's fantastic coverage. I weighed bailing myself if I'm honest. The fact that I (hopefully) help you out by providing coverage kept me around. I'm not impressed with being forced into using RTLDump when it's made my experience much worse vs RTL1090. It's supposed to help MLAT performance but we've lost too many GS users and now they don't work at all. Also the forced update _ruined_ the sensitivity meter for me. I used to get planes overhead at 45-50 signal, and having that many increments from zero helped guarantee I would know when they were in visual range. Now I get 0-16 or so for planes overhead, and nothing above 5 or 6 in planeplotter itself. Before the RTL1090 program and PP matched exactly when it came to sensitivity. Now they mismatch and they don't go nearly as high, especially planeplotter. I wish I could go back without losing my GS/MU status.
