IROC-61 McGuire C-17 #02-1098 inbound McGuire on CP has couple downloads and 4 crew and 6 crew pax.
IROC flights always seem to bounce around US on weekends so assume a McGuire 514th Reserve mission.
Downloads were L-Sat and the APGL. Mil search shows APGL as Acoustic and Plasma Guided Laser..
A fancy high tech type x-ray machine for med patients... Maybe IROC is for these squads?

514th Aeromedical Staging Squadron
514th Aerospace Medicine Squadron

Maybe IROC stands for Imaging Radiology On Call 😜

A FEW QUESTIONS ON EASTERN NC:
I'm planning to take a little airplane-related trip around first of the month and wanted to check in with hive mind on some North Carolina info:
1 - Would Monday generally be an active day for the Dare County ranges? Am hoping to snag a JTAC freq for the Air Force range. I believe I've heard this on 342.4 for the Navy Range
2 - Do we have any knowledge on scheduling or freqs for Draken at Kinston Airport? Was wondering if it would be worthwhile to head down that way and try to catch some signal from near their HQ. Are there any particularly common callsigns for them? Have not been able to find much searching.
Was thinking I might hit Dare on a Monday, Kinston on a Tuesday, and then head back toward home on Wednesday.

Anybody have info or advice to share?

I will ask on the local plane spotter group on Discord for you, but the only thing I can help you with (and I'm sure you know) just make sure it isn't a holiday Monday. UPDATE: According to a service member out that way it depends on the phase of training they are in 50-50 shot.

For Draken, I've only heard them on regular airport/ATC frequencies, not on a company frequency. Here is a link for all contract fighters, which include them:

Also, if you are making the trip to Kinston, why not stop by Seymour Johnson, it's only like 30 minutes away.

See Coast Guard 102 GLF5 off to the Med area it seems.. Things heating up East of there.

Acars has GOLD-71 #20-46082 and GOLD-81 #21-46088 McGuire going to Hill AFB KHIF tonight..
Sounds like F-35 move coming up. Usually but not always when they send East Coast tankers West means
they are bringing someone back East.
GOLD-62 KC-135 from KSKA to KIAB McConnell.
GOLD-63 #16-46023 departing McConnell now looks Eastbound to stage.
GOLD-83 #19-46010 departing McConnell also Eastbound.
GOLD-82 #18-46051 departing Pease westbound..
GOLD-74 KC-135 #58-0119 departing McGhee Tyson Tn NE bound.
Seems a biggie Altrav coming up :)

Looks like 3 groups x4. As of 21:00 EDT just missing 64 ? GOLD Lineup
Looks like McConnell GOLD's 83,63 are enroute Griffiss KRME on Acars.. Maybe also dodging this wx front.
Looks like GOLD-74 out of Tennessee is gonna join them.
No A/A heard on McGuire GOLD's and one Pease GOLD dodging wx trying to get westbound.
GOLD-84 #57-1499 now off Utah Eastbound.. Sure gonna be more than a dozen fighters travelling.
Finally some coms on McGuire A/A 378.850 on Westbound GOLD's comparing altitudes but not much else.
GOLD-62 KC-135 #58-0113 not showing callsign still enroute KSKA to KIAB.

Haven't seen this many GOLD tankers in one move maybe since many years ago when Dyess sent eight B-1
bombers to UK Brize Norton for exercise accompanied here by 8 McGuire GOLD KC-10's.. Pre ADSB days.
Course these days Dyess would have trouble getting 8 B-1's airborne at once. They had a lot more B-1's flying back then.

I appreciate it. Mostly wanted to play around with the AirSpy in an area less RF-intensive than Richmond (I live next door to State Police HQ/Tower) or Hampton Roads. Also measuring my girlfriend's scanner tolerance LOL which is already amazingly good. She actually volunteered to go on this trip to a bombing range. Could possibly hit Seymour Johnson, but I feel like there's a lot of knowledge freq-wise about them, and it's not as easy to watch the planes there as it used to be. Am thinking that if Draken is active, Kinston might have more potential for some new discoveries, and looks like a place to pick up signals at point-blank range. Plus...if the town is cute enough, I could take her antiquing or something while the scanners record.

MOLSON 01 off BGR. Initially I thought maybe for the MIB B-52s (reported as BUZZ 21-22), but the MOLSON callsign seems more likely for CF-18s out of Bagotville ?

SPUR 11 flight off MKE, maybe more likely for the B-52s. Interesting that the SPUR callsign is back. Last heard in December 2021, the absense seems to coincide with the Biden Administration, or maybe just a coincidence ?

SJAFB is easy to watch. A public road dead ends at the back fence overlooking the runway and F15e hangers.
