Reach 332 C-17 inbound Norfolk NAS calling the tower on 379.150 asking about wx conditions.
Rare hearing that up this way.. Calling AMC CP on 349.500 says download of 2 helos, req customs and parking.
0800 local seems RCH-332 is diverting to home base Charleston perhaps instead of Norfolk.

The 177th FW at Atlantic City sure has a tough Colonel for maintenance...

Question for the VA area guys

Yesterday (Fri) was hearing unis acft on ZDC Flat Rock 235.635 around 1500-1515 local. I thought I heard a handover to 282.375. I tuned to that right away but never heard anything. I can't find any ZDC, Oceana or Langley listing for that freq.

Is that freq familiar to you guys? Maybe I misheard it???

1050- Volt 31 & 41 are off WRI heading south. Maybe relocation called off?
Yeah guess McGuire told them to hit the road 🤣
Calling for Southerly winds here tomorrow of 40-50 mph.. Looking like quiet Sunday for mil traffic.

From California here comes the toughest C-130 guys after 4 months of Antarctic shuttle duty SKIER-74 #83-0490.
Not sure who will be happier them or the returning astronauts. :)

Richmond TAPPA approach (east). I think I heard the same guy. He mentioned 126.4 (same function) on a Navy air/air freq--can't remember which one--and then showed up on 126.4 ID'ing as 'Navy' plus a 3-digit number. We don't get a lot of that, although the Navy used to keep a T-34 here at one of the FBO's for recruiting purposes. Not sure if that still goes on, because it's hard to observe anything at RIC anymore.

I caught someone around that timeframe ID'ing as 'Navy xxx' to RIC approach on 126.4, after having mentioned the freq on a Navy air/air ch. I don't monitor the Pax freqs in the car, but 365.7 had use with Oceana units in the past, so I was likely scanning it. Will see if I can get some info from the recordings.

Looks like 4 VOLTS headed down to Louisiana. I'm guessing the McGuire based 514th Aeromedical Staging Squadron
for the weekend down there or one of the various other 514th reserve squadrons.
VOLT-12 arriving direct from Charleston.. McGuire has lots of Reserve type squadrons.. Maybe ICE support down there somewhere?

514th Mission Support Group
-- 514th Mission Support Squadron
-- 514th Logistics Readiness Squadron
-- 514th Civil Engineer Squadron
-- 514th Security Forces Squadron
-- 35th and 88th Aerial Port Squadrons
- 514th Aeromedical Staging Squadron
- 514th Aerospace Medicine Squadron

365.7 was evidently pretty busy. I went out to the car and reviewed my recordings:
1509L - unintelligible around Richmond, VA - maybe the Salty Dogs
1555L - one pilot giving the other landing info for Rwy 14, presumably Patuxent
1600L - one pilot remarking that he was up on 126.400, with the other remarking that he had heard a reply on 282.375--so the UHF freq was likely the original handoff. Nothing air/air caught on this freq after that--but that radio was still scanning

Second radio tuned to sit on 126.4 at 1600L:
1601-1606L - Navy Tango Papa 38 communicating with Potomac on 126.4, discussing altitudes as far down as 5000'
1608L - TP38 handing off to Patuxent Approach on 120.05

Nothing after that. I didn't have Patuxent Approach in my scan.

ps - sorry for all the crazy quote boxes, guys...I was trying to include mdmonitor's original post on this

Are there more issues occuring with frequency selection? or is it a combination of my imgaination and random variability?

Thanks
Joel
