Agree. Great film.

I got to meet Clancy twice. First time at US Naval War College (I was a student) when Red October was just released (Oct 1984). The second time was about 15 years later at a book signing here in Annapolis.

Fame does things to a person. In 1984 was he humble and friendly to chat with. 15 yrs later he was very business-like. no nonsense, & arrogant.

I still have his first 6 books signed by him.

My mom and stepdad did private security for him at some book signings, might've been around that same time. Said he was an ahole.

Why is there a local C-17 PITT-75 showing India AF mode s C-17 (800E63) tail CB-8011 working AR-218 over Pennsylvania?
Maybe Captain hit the secret spoof id box.. LOL
Maybe Boeing in Seattle under contract with India Govt gave Pitt ANG this tail to wring her out after overhaul?
2039 local PITT-75 has dropped off the map... hmm.
Checking past history PITT-75 (800E63) showed in this area back on 10/21/22 and again as PITT-57 (800E63) in Vegas 8/5/22.
Like Johnny Carson used to say. "That is some weird whacky stuff" :)

McGuire overdue for new Boeing P-8A delivery.. They usually ship on Fridays so we shall see tomorrow.

Yeah passing just southeast of Baltimore now.....running parallel to each other
I can hear the controller talking to them but I am hearing the controller on the UHF side from the Millville RCAG. Not too bad for 22 miles away although it helps the antennas are on towers and my antennas are on the roof.

Need to trim the trees down a bit before they block the signal.

The first B-52 new engines being tested for the first time!!

View attachment 137541
Many of us may not know it, but the engine they want to replace (J-57) could have been replaced with more modern engines (j-79, F-100, F-110 ) at any time, ( they are all about 48.5" in diameter) the problem was the J-57 was way more fuel efficient than anything else, up until recently, the only things that were more efficient were a few of the very large high bypass engines (ie sized for 747's etc...).

Thanks
Joel

Maybe the DOT & FAA have figured out that its time to make sure they don't get caught with their pants down again with high altitude objects?
To be fair, its kind of new ( well, not really but newer than some other things) and someone finally realized it should be inspected for coverage just like the VHF/UHF air comms and Radars. It took them untill the 2000's to require annual certification of radio systems.

Thanks
Joel
