Interesting stuff. If you look up Currituck Regional Airport in SkyVector, that airport doesn't have a control tower, but for communications it lists Oceana Approach/Departure Control on 123.9 and 266.8.

If you'd like, I can send you a copy of a very detailed spreadsheet with FAA ATC frequencies that I got from someone on RR. If I interpret the info correctly, Oceana Approach/Departure Control has a remote site at Currituck Regional. It also shows 288.3 as SFA for Oceana (Apollo Field).
Sounds great to me!

Hi Larry, I'd be interested in seeing that spreadsheet too (check PMs). I'd be surprised if Oceana had a remote transmitter at Currituck, one clue is in the remarks section that provides a phone number to call for CD (Clearance Delivery) instead of providing a frequency, but you never know.

A guy that I was talking to at the spot showed me a list he said he'd copied from the tower some years back. His list has 288.3 as approach North, vs. 266.8 being approach South.

The RR Database shows 353.700/118.900 as another approach pair, so looks like 353.700 has been replaced by 323.050, although I can't find any reference to it in any FAA docs. Can anyone confirm 118.900 ? My guess is Instead of north-south the Approach sectors are split vertically with 266.800/123.900 at 5000 and above and 323.050/118.900? 4500 and below.

Complex airspace in that area with Oceana, Norfolk, Cherry Point, ZDC and Giant Killer all overlapping each other. Need to get a copy of their respective SOPs with sector charts. Closest I've been able to find is a chart in the Cherry Point SOP that shows the northern boundaries.

Nevermind. I see now that 353.700/118.900 are Norfolk Approach frequencies and not Oceana Approach. Database needs to be updated.

There is a Navy GLF5 #166376 filed from EIME Casement AB in Baldonnel to KADW today.
Prob for Navy Brass watching the football game in Dublin.

US Marines having bad week with aircraft as an MV-22 accident in Australia.
They always seem to run in streaks.. :(

The use of 323.05 didn't sound to me like another approach sector, and planes were not consistently handed off to it from 266.8. It appeared to be an alternative to GCA/SFA freqs for planes coming in on a straight approach--except that more than one aircraft would use this freq at the same time. The instance that I recall, involved a flight of two being split into single aircraft which were than addressed individually by he controllers. (BTW, Rwy 05 was the active, so I only heard approaches from the south)
