1845 local: while looking at ADSB I noticed KC-46A 21-46091as ASANA11 assigned to the 305th AMW operating off the coast SW of Sa Diego. It appears that they took off from MCAS Yuma. I guess getting some training in with the USMC!!!

Not Mid-Atlantic, but figured I’d share anyway. Tampa AirFest today was quite a show! Got to get up into the cockpit and boom seat of KC-10 (86-0038) one last time before they’re retired for good, which was a nice coincidence seeing as this bird flew over my house just a few weeks ago on the way into McGuire. I was chatting with a boom operator and pilot who took some “AV” F-16s from CONUS back to Europe a few weeks ago which was the reason for their stop at McGuire.

We got a B-2 flyover, F-18 Demo, A-10 Demo, MacDill KC-135 flyover, and the Thunderbirds (who were fashionably late due to mech issues). Team Dover was on display with their C-5M (87-0045). McConnell brought a KC-46, Eglin had 2 F-35s on display, Moody brought 2 A-10s, Shaw had 2 F-16s on display, and Altus had a C-17 there.

All around a great day and I’m happy that I got to experience the mighty KC-10 one last time before they all head to the boneyard. The pilot told me that Travis is down to just seven airframes now, a few of which are actually old McGuire birds. For me it’s back to the northeast tomorrow where I’m going to try and get the MAKOs on their way out of AC on Monday. A few KC-10 pics below.IMG_4001.jpeg

1244 EDT - ARRIS 46 entering the PAX River Complex. 355.800
I was wondering who owned that KC-46 tail #18-46046 and seems it belongs to the 22ARW McConnell.
Bells went off tonight as Weds I posted article about the USAF testing the new KC-46 wing mounted refueling pods or also known as WARPs.

22ARW TEST NEW WARPs CAPABILITIES

Bet this is the same WARP tanker testing with the Navy aircraft down at Pax River.. Also that Edwards AFB test callsign ARRIS to boot.
Article mentioned they already worked with AV-8B's out of Cherry Point..
I imagine down the road not every KC-46 will get this WARP system but see several KC-46 tankers in each squad will get them.
They will be the Navy/Marine/Foreign specialty tankers. :)

1850 EDT - FEAR coordinating with MA ANG F-15s that are also working Viper, on 276.500 then to 226.300. F-15s A-A 259.900, 264.850.
Are you sure about the MA F-15's. I have both those freqs as VT ANG
259.900 and 264.850 are 100% MA ANG F-15s, 259.000 is another one they commonly use for A-A. Unless you meant 226.300 which is Viper Common and 276.500 which is AR609 primary.

Walking the Mall this morning and have seen a lot of traffic on Route 1. MUSSELs heard with their ops 293.600. MH-65D as well, but not scanning the CG nets. Also saw a PAT VH-60M…what’s their ops freq?
Seems a Gold Top VH-60M was flying around DC this past week.. Sec of Defense and others use these for local trips.

From what I’ve seen on Twitter, it’s actually a miscoded P8. IMG_4046.png

There's a KC-135 (58-0069) just taken off from Bangor heading North , could this be heading for B-52
This is ROMA 11. Their clearance was to destination (not specified) via ALTRAV Coronet East 025. Listening to Gander and it sounds like they are going to pick westbound traffic in the vicinity of PELTU around 1500 UTC. (The "B-52" does appear to be a miscoded P-8).

1355 UTC- unid 12 checking on with Gander, to FL260. Couldn't make out the callsign, sorta sounds like KENNER ??
1400 UTC- ROMA 11 given hold at PELTU with an EFC (Expect Further Clearance) time of 1500 UTC.

0951- Navy PR 410 (P-8) off DOV.
Ron not sure if that is a P-8A.. PR is Navy VQ-1 and still flies EP-3E types unless doing some training on a P-8A?
VQ-1 does own a EP-3E #161410 as well. Seems top speed so far is only about 310 knots.
Was flying around yesterday in this area as (AE1D98) VVPR410.. Maybe new code for this tail is (AE67C2)

I think the SECDEF mission is currently HMX. It switches every couple of years.
