The WashPost points out that while the White House is talking about how great its diplomacy was in sticking Kenya with the job of providing troops for Haiti...it's an American show pulling the strings down there to get things up and running. And since the Kenyan AF is kinda short on airlift capacity, we'll do the flying, too. And the Post had a photo of a C-17 on the ground there to prove it, with the photo captioned to say it was a C-130. I see the caption has been changed--any of you guys call the photo editor?

Must keep an eye on our stuff going in and out of Nairobi and Haiti...
Getting ugly in Haiti. Gangs just killed 3 US Missionaries last night.. US C-17's have been making daily daylight runs
in and out of Haiti via Charleston AFB. Don't know how long it will be for Kenya folks to show up there.
May be time for the Marines if this keeps up but in an election year politics what it is they prob won't.

France really running troops and gear into New Caledonia via Vancouver/Hawaii.. I think France has given up on Haiti.

Vacation report from Norfolk area:
Info on some freqs I watched from previous posts on the group:
299.0 - definitely sounded like intercepts of some kind. Only one voice heard. Very strong. Wanted to analyze but accidentally erased my recordings.
363.125 - Turned out to be approach/departure. AirNav shows it as ORF Departure along with 379.1 & 125.200. I was staying near Little Creek, and it sounds like it was linked to tower & ground freqs at night.
363.375 - Active on Thursday with a ship addressing approaching aircraft as if they were unknowns. Aircraft was addressed by its position, heading and altitude and requested to establish communication. Some distant replies were heard, but one transmission told the a/c they were headed into possible danger and could be subject to 'coalition defense action'
F-18's out of Oceana appeared to be mostly VFA-106 and their 265.775 had some a/c identifying with what sounded like 'Viper' callsigns

I'll have to watch 363.375 - could be SF training or something like that. Depends how loud the ship signal was and how far offshore.
I've heard the same sort of comms you describe on 299.0 on 253.2 and 228.9 with the E-2Ds.
