0725- Cosmics are the CAP ftrs this morning.

0740- Wink 99 (KC-135 PA ANG Pittsburgh) checks in w/Huntress (260.9). Sounds like a hastily put together CAP this morning.
Notice tanker WINK-21 doing rtb to Florida after getting up here this morning.. Must have had problem.
WINK-99 sounds like the Alert backup :)

Lancaster Pa airport has airshow all weekend rain or shine.Mostly small planes and old warbirds.
A DC-3 "Hairless Joe" is on the way from Detroit this morning.

I wasn't home yesterday, but I caught this flight on recordings. It was the two German Tornados leaving Bangor for Edwards. Here's my log:

1301z 239.300 GERMAN AIR FORCE W61 flight climbout Bangor on departure.
1313z 346.400 GAF W61 checking in with ZBW, FL210. Gives routing ENE-CAM-SYR.
1306z 391.000 GAF W61 calling BLUE 71 with no joy on boom freq.
1311z 263.050 GAF W61 check in with ZBW FL210 inbound Cambridge, no joy. Push 346.400
1312z 346.400 GAF W61 check back in with ZBW, no joy on 263.05 request VHF. Given 128.200
1317z 391.000 BLUE 71 and GAF W61 (x2) finally get in touch as 71 just got off the ground. They're on boom freq, coordinating their rendezvous and first AR.

That's all I had. There's some great photos of the Tornados on the Bangor spotting group on facebook.
Now we know what they are doing at Edwards :)

0755- Cosmic 1 id's boom freq 231.625 as "comm 3". Cosmic 2 tail # 8-7342
Ron I heard #87-0346 for Cosmic-02 and #87-0352 for Cosmic-01. Both are 119th FS tails at A/C.

COSMIC says to tanker we were alert fighters also due to NOBLE-21 diverted to A/C early this morning.
NOBLE's may come from A/C at first today.. WINK-99 asks if any word on their regular tanker replacement
WINK-99 says have enough fuel for 6 hours.

From the Live ATC archives this morning. NOBEL 11 entered the Blue Hen ATCAA around 0600EDT, just prior to entry requested a heading to join the Reading AR Track, then around 20 minutes later requested a clearance to RTB (no reason given) then cleared to destination via direct but a few minutes later requested another clearance to turn around and go back to the Blue Hen ATCAA again. Then around 0700EDT while in the Blue Hen NOBEL 11 requested clearance for both aircraft to divert to KACY (no reason given), and no mention of the reason or any problems were mentioned when talking with KACY APP/TWR/GND. ATC IDd them as 2 F-16s.

At around the same time 0700EDT the 2 COSMIC F-16s departed KACY.

When WINK 21 requested clearance back to KMCF no reason was initially acknowledged by ATC but a few minutes later the controller requested the time and severity of the icing WINK 21 encountered. Could not hear the aircraft but there was a PIREP issued shortly after.
