In the deep south and not so deep south of Calgary, have not heard any TRBO on 463.9375 over the past couple of months. However, am hearing it on the ATCO Gas frequencies in Calgary and Airdrie. And I won't comment on Rate Riders for ATCO Gas.

It's sounding like ATCO has gone TRBO or at least DMR over a wide area - if not provincewide then at least all through the greater Calgary region. I've heard it on towers from Cochrane area thru to Vulcan and everywhere in between.

I would assume both, but not 100% sure if NXDN supports both.

I haven't had the chance to fire up DSD yet, hopefully soon. But more then likely when the white stuff appears again.

So next weekend? ;) :p

I've submitted to remove the Calgary area ATCO Gas freqs from the conventional part of the DB and as soon as I can get my PSR800 programmed I'm going to see if I can't figure out if the signal down here is TRBO or NXDN or something else (and submit the result to the DB). So far with the PC/IF-Out neither Unitrunker (which at one time would show DMR or NXDN in the receiver window, but not decode it - not sure if that is gone) nor DMRDecode are coming up with anything... though I got a brief DMR indication with 50% bad frames at the top of the hour.

There was a press release last year about Atco awarding a wide area repeaters system contract to Kenwood. bidulock and I heard the site in Strathcona County last year, and when doing a side by side comparison with a known TRBO signal, you can hear the difference in the two signals.

Well, Kenwood would be NXDN then, and DSD tried to tell me it had a NXDN96+ voice frame a moment ago, but no data came through.

Well, my ears are not what they used to be and they never were really good for music [tone deaf]. But listening to ATCO in Calgary and NXDN out of Okotoks, they do not sound similar. But that doesn't mean ATCO in the Calgary area is not NXDN. And what could be throwing me off is these are CC and I have never heard NXDN CC. I also have a strong digital signal on 153.59 which is also listed to ATCO. Lately, since the golfing season, I hear TRBO on 462.0875 which I had loaded in years ago as Heritage Pointe Golf Club. Never was interesting to listen to so won't miss this one.

Sounds like Heritage Park in Calgary [not to be confused with Heritage Pointe Golf Course] has gone TRBO. Started hearing this last week and today. Not really sure why they had to but. All this Digital is starting to peeve me off. Similar to the 80s when digital first came in and the FM scanners became useless. Now seems like even the LAD frequencies have the yipping yapping coyotes invading these frequencies and playing their music. Yuk. Didn't have time to really look into the digital sound for Heritage Park so will try to see more tomorrow is work cooperates.

They've had a 7K60FXE license for a while now - surprised it took this long. I was hearing analog on that freq 2 weeks ago.

As for "why?" - because TRBO salesmen are very, very good at their jobs. Nothing else.

And Heritage Park has switched their noisy comms from 164.37 to 165.18, not that it matters with TRBO.

Baytex energy is using UHF TRBO out between Cynthia and Drayton Valley. I have not done a TAFl search to verify frequencies, but at their plant site, in the control room, they had a TRBO mobile, and UHF TRBO portables. While there heard both the control room operator and field units talking and it was digital mode. Receive audio (digital) is actually pretty decent, better than Provoice for sure.

Their license implies 451.975, but as with many licenses, doesn't have the right emissions for TRBO/DMR.

Did not have a chance to hunt for the frequency in the field today. They also should have VHF as well, unless it is for radio controlled roads, but there is no mistaking a R-split antenna in a sea for K-Split HT-1000's...

Driving around in and around Red Deer today, heard TRBO on 153.800 which shows up as Samson [Hobbema], however, Databases still list this as FM. Didn't hear any other TRBO on frequencies I have not locked.
