Multiple scanners/one antenna.

I have a SDS200 and a Pro 2052 I'd like to use with my DS-150S discone. Guess I need a coupler (or multicoupler?), the one on Scanner Master is still sold out, any other reccomendations? Is it as simple as that or any other parts or considerations? I may use this antenna for transmitting also, does that change everything? I'm a bit new at this..

If all your signal strengths are good, check with the SDS200, and are stronger than 90dBm then you can use a passive splitter that isolates the two scanners from each other. A CATV splitter costs $5 and works fine with scanners.

If you transmit you should use a switch to disconnect your scanners and also ground their antenna input to prevent them to be damage from the high transmit signal levels. I believe there are such switches but will be a bit costly at $100.

This is the one I use and it shows in stock. It will allow you to add two additional scanners. It does not cover below 25 MHz if you want to use a receiver on the 160, 80, 40, 20, or 15 meter amateur bands. 4 Port MCA204M VHF/UHF Receiver Multicoupler - 25 MHz to 1 GHz | Scanner Master

I use a tv amplifier with 2 scanners running along with the TV and I get excellent reception.

Ok, sounds good, thanks. I have the top belcony here, kinda wondering if I could even ground anything. I'm afraid to ask the hoa. 😅

A passive splitter attenuates 4dB so check if that are aceptable. A suitable switch for transmit are linked below and also get pigtails or adapters. If you try and get F connectors at each device, using adapters, you can use cheap ready made coax lengths with F connectors.

Just wanted to say, I don't know how they did it with the SDS200, but with just a simple whip outside, only 6 ft off the ground, out of the 5 sites I get, 2 of them are 30 plus miles from me, one is that far south and the other is that far north. The SDS200's "hearing" ability is uncanny.

I've never seen any other scanner before receive 30+ miles on a near ground whip outside and look at how many scanners I have in my sig to compare it with.

It's not made for transmit, the switches are probably too weak for it.

You absolutely need a switch that grounds the connection to a scanner to protect it from damage when you transmit with high signal levels.

The Switch being referred to would be something like DIAMOND CX-210N Where onside would go to your splitter and the other to what you want to transfer with. Also if you can add a ground (without the HOA getting upset) it will help - especially when transmitting.

The Switch being referred to would be something like DIAMOND CX-210N Where onside would go to your splitter and the other to what you want to transfer with. Also if you can add a ground (without the HOA getting upset) it will help - especially when transmitting.

Ok, cool. I was looking at getting something like a Wouxun KG-Q10H quad band and I guess a discone would be handy to transmit with all those bands as well as recieve for the scanners, if I can. Thanks.
