need advice

Hi guys, looking at getting portable SW receiver for my son (who happened to remind me that I promised to go halves in the purchase of a radio)

looking at the Tecsun PL660 or Degen 1103, now I have never owned a portable radio before so need some input.

He wants to receive some ham stuff, so both have SSB and I see the PL660 has airband as well.

He often jumps on my R-5000 and listens for a hour or so at a time.

What do you think is the better option here, through what I have found is they are pretty equal

i stated with a grundig g5 they dont exist anymore but a good option is a sangean 909 or 909x
with one of those he could have some fun with sw and its good on mw i geuss also
you could go with a sattilite 750 if you wana spoil him it is a nice radio for the money considering
the next price jump from large portable to comunications reciever is a pretty penny

I would go with the Tecsun PL-660, it is the best iteration of the Tecsun radios, has all the features you want and a great price. I'm thinking of getting one myself.
