do you have a gray cable, do you have a serial port on your computer? win96 is the best program to use. scan cat lite should work but not as good.

The Radio Shack 20-047 cable is fine. It's endorsed by Don Starr himself in this thread: http://www.radioreference.com/forums/showthread.php?t=35021

I have helped correct problems with this new 20-047 cables. A simple correction in the PC Device Manager solved the problem. These problems were not the fault of the cable or cable drivers.

Edit: by echo174"With The Mono And Stereo Plug.i Dont Know Whitch Plug To Use" Use the stereo as per the pdf.

Glad you got it working.

For Win96 V-Folders and other "Extended" features.
1. Hovering the mouse over Refresh or Commit should provide info as to what either will do with respect to other associated operations available.

2, Other extended frequencies available are the scanner will tune down from default 25.0000 to 17.0000 MHz and from default 806.0000 to 764.0000 Mhz. The latter will not provide for trunk scanning in the 764 range but some users are reporting that conventionally, they are listening to new trunking systems evolving n this range.

Win96 is unique in both features above, plus it provides the user to set up to 6 extended tables for either Mot 3600 CC and/or 9600 CC operations. And the new 1.53 version allows the user to set table step ranges below default 6.5000 to 1.25000. This alone saved our butts here in Virginia on a new statewide MOT 9600 VHF system, for we found a previously unreachable step setting of 2.5000. Don worked on it overnight and provided the solution.

BTW, these ranges were verified using Mike V's latest version PRO-96COM utility for MOT 9600 CC systems. His previous version would not function with this system because it depended on the CC providing SysID data to the scanner. Mike worked overnight and provided a fix for this condition. Bingo, we were able to log tower data which listed the step size. This gave Don what he needed to do to solve the problem by using Win96. This is well beyond what the scanner buttons or other software will provide.

All for 30 bucks and this was without Extended freqs, Web Import and now, "Extended step" ranges plus the many other improvements to the overall operation of Win96.

I should also--while on this soap box--give credit to rfmobile, Rick designed a Pro96Dump utility which first pointed to the possibility that the 2.5000 step size existed in the Virginia system. We've had a lot of help, with very little cost.
