I have tried so many times now to program my 2052 with the trunking freqs. and it isn't working like all the manuals, forums, how-to's....etc... Please someone help. I am new to this but am a very fast learner and understand most of the basics and more, but this is something that isn't working for me.

Been there

Done that...read that as well as my own to the "T." I get to certain point and it still doesn't work like the manuals are saying it should.

Here is what I have done

I have done exactly what they all say.Shawnee System (E2- 800) for smartnet analog 800mz press "E" to store. I then input all the system freqencies that they provide (856.46250 856.73750 857.46250* 857.73750 858.46250* 859.46250* 860.46250) after finishing I press trunk to exit programming. Now I should be able to scan or program the fleet map codes but it will not let me and I do not here any traffic at all...complete silence as is.

Next to a scanner...
I'm not really familiar with that model, but what happens when you hit "scan"?

If it is all dashes or something like that (something other than what it looks like under normal, conventional scanning), you are probably trunking, and there is no traffic to follow. If not, maybe you have to hit "trunk" button to turn on trunking. If it's scanning in conventional, you will probably hear the data channel (another thing to check, even if you have "trunking" turned on - make sure you're withing range).

Let us know what the display says once you get it all programmed, and hit scan (trying to follow the system).

If you still can't get it all figured out, next time you're around the Metro (OKC), shoot me a PM - maybe I can meet up with you and help you out.

Same

It shows the same as conventional scanning. The manual does say it should have blanks or ---- in the display but this is not what I am getting. I have Tecumseh freqencies in and I can pick up shawnee very clear. So I am pretty sure I am within range. If I was out of range wouldn't it still show to blank display?

No, out of range should look like it's searching (scanning) for something (the data channel). Try to manually find the data channel in your Shawnee bank - sounds like a bunch of noise. If you can hear it, you're within range.

Since you said it looks like regular scanning, I'm going to say that you don't have trunking turned on, or the scanner can't hear the data channel (or it's not programmed right, but it seems like you got most of that).

I will take it with me next time I head into town and troubleshoot if range was the problem. Thanks for the help and I look forward to learning more of scanning jaron/tech in the future.

Camp Sooner?? I bet your dealing with a distance issue.

You cross posted in so many different threads it was hard for me to keep up ... but I thought that you said that you can trunk OHP's Tecumseh site. If so, then without a doubt it is distance.

If you really want to reach out and grab something, consider getting yourself a yagi.

Yeah, I was just generally having alot of difficulties with my pro-2052. I got a 2051 and now I am in buisness! I will be looking into a base antenna but only pricing. It will be a bit before I can purchase.
