• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

KG-UVD-1P Unlock and GMRS

1. Unlock software? What specifically does that bring about and can you provide a download link?

2. GMRS/FRS. I use KG-UV Commander to program my rig. How do you effectively program a freq (either FRS or GMRS) to take into account the "frequency interference codes" i.e CH 18-18. I have had my Midland rig set at 18-18 transmit to the Wuoxun, but the Midland will not receive the Wuoxun TX with the Wuoxun set to encode a CTCSS 18 code of 118.8. Am I missing something or is this not possible?

I'm not familiar with the radio, but I suspect the comport assignment com1, com2, com3, etc. is not correct. You may want to ask your question here:

Wouxun_KG-UVD1 : Wouxun KG-UVD1

An excellent source of information!

I had the same problem. I usually have to go into device manager and change the com port to Com 3 manually for it to work. It's a :pITA, but otherwise a great radio.

The same site has the unlock program in the Files Section

I have read pages upon pages of debate about part 95 vs part 97 and the suitability of these radios on certain bands and Im honestly not all that worried about it. I really only programmed them in there for monitoring anyway but in a real emergency where TX on those frequencies might be necessary, all rules are out the window as far as Im concerned.

I hate to say this but the all rules out the window will not fly with the FCC,I wish everyone would stop admitting using radios illegally on this forum the FCC knows how to read also and they do frequent this forum.

If you going to use them please don't brag in a open forum
