Need some help here, never had this problem ..trying to update Sentinel Master database for either the HP1 or SDS200 … when I go to update I get an error message after just a few seconds stating updating full database failed, the operation has timed out … I’m using Spectrum for internet . My internet connection seems fine. Any advice ?

Spectrum is most likely the culprit. The "timed out" error message is usually given by Sentinel when the ISP has connected you to Uniden's FTP server, but the ISP has unusually high latency times when trying to transfer the FTP data from the server to Sentinel. HughesNet satellite based ISP is notorious for that issue going back many years, and lately Spectrum has surfaced as problematic for many Sentinel users.

Your internet connections to web sites etc. seem OK because that uses HTTP, whereas Sentinel's database uses FTP transfers.

Using a cell phone as a hot spot has worked for others having the same issue using Spectrum as their ISP. Check this post:

Spectrum is currently working fine for me in Ohio. It always has, never had an issue unless the system is down.

There was another thread where someone had Spectrum and it denied FTP connections. Might be regional.

I remember awhile back the threads on this subject...
I don't have a problem with my ISP... The old CenturyLink now Brightspeed...

But someone stated in one of those threads that Verizon would work... Never tried it though to see...
So curiosity got the best of me... Just tried it connecting to my phone as a hotspot...

For those that want to know... Verizon worked just fine with Unidens FTP Server...

Do you have the Hotspot capability enabled?
Hotspot capability is part of my phone plan...

You can also try taking your laptop to somewhere that has public WiFi so that you are no longer on the Spectrum service, and see if Sentinel will update then. If Sentinel does update then, it was definitely Spectrum causing the problem.
