I'm contemplating a DJ-X100T to monitor, among other things, my hotspot that transmits DStar and DMR on the same frequency. Is it possible with this radio to program 2 memory channels for the same frequency but different digital modes, have it scan between the two channels, and then have it stop on the channel it can decode? I guess what I'm asking is if it will resume scanning if it cannot decode the digital signal withing a certain amount of time?
Yes it will stop for DSTAR on the memory channel you have programmed with the DSTAR mode, and it will stop on the other channel you have programmed with DMR as a receive mode, without mixing up the two memory channels.

If it sees DMR on its DSTAR memory channel, it will pass-on as it will not be recognized as corresponding to its programmed mode (and vice versa).

Note : you will absolutely *love* the quality of audio of our amateur radio modes : DSTAR - DMR - C4FM Fusion : Sharp, crisp, full audio with excellent decode of the signals, and top it with the « audio leveling » feature (I don’t have the exact name of this feature as I don’t have my X100 near me), you’ll AT LAST be able to listen to ham radio QSOs where one has its mic level set too low, and the other too much cranked-up !

Still getting to know this radio. In addition to the "audio leveling" you cited also like the audio-shaping feature to help with readability of weak signals.

Does this radio have some kind of a band scope?

New antennas arriving today, one tuned for the aviation band, will be able to do a direct comparison with the same antenna between the DJ-X100T and the IC-R15 plus others scanning the same frequencies.

Excellent! Thanks for that information. That's exactly what I need.

Right now I use two radios to monitor DStar and DMR which seems so silly, and it is very inconvenient. All the other monitoring I do falls right in the frequency range this radio covers, so it seems like an ideal solution for me.

I didn't know about the audio leveling feature. That's awesome. I'm so annoyed by especially my DMR radios that they don't do that. I often find myself fiddling with the volume level when I listen to a net or a conversation. Nice!

If anyone has the time/inclination then please post a few videos on YouTube showing off the DJ-X100. Oddly, there are only videos from UK/EU or Japanese users.

Will try to once I'm familiar with all its features.
So far I like it a lot, received some new antennas today and will able to do a comparison, scanning the same frequencies simultaneously, between the IC-R30 (benchmark) and the DJ-X100T, with identical antennas.

The DJ-X100T does have a great screen, you can adjust its color with pre-programmed settings or input your own using RGB values.
It does make the IC-R30's screen look slightly plain by comparison.

It doesn't have dual scanning or the ability to record, that's the only two things against it so far vs. the IC-R30.

Someone left a very negative review at DXEngineering (one star) re the ACARS function presumably because aircraft are moving to a new digital system which the DJ-X100T wont decode. But I've been using the ACARS feature and within minutes the message log filled up (10 items) with ACARS reports.

I agree, PC software that would record and log frequencies or memories would be a nice feature. Hopefully there are more updates in the future.

I do this kind of monitoring for 2 DSTAR repeaters, 3 Fusion repeaters, one DMR ham, all along commercial DMR and one commercial NXDN repeater, all smoothly and very nicely decoded (which would need 4 radios).
If I’m called on any of the 3 ham digital modes (or analog), I simply walk fast to the ham shack to answer the call on the right radio !

That's exactly how I intend to use the DJ-X100T, which I ordered this afternoon, including the AA battery case and a two antennas. :)

This will also ensure that the batteries for the DStar HT I use (TH-D75A) and DMR HT (BTech 6x2) will stay charged and don't drain due to extended monitoring.

Thanks again for your help!

Has anyone heard about a US version of the RRUK paid service that currently supports UK frequencies? I assume someone has to be working on this for the X100T and Uniden DN scanners. Got to be a huge demand. Eliminates manual entry of memory channels and selective by zip code.

Been scanning with the IC-R30 and the DJ-X100T with identical antennas and so far every weak signal that opens the squelch on the IC-R30 also opens it on the DJ-X100T.

That’s a plus. Will pass on this receiver as its missing to much options. Still haven’t heard back from alinco but am presuming they won’t be able to upgrade the software to receive the new ACARS format. Was really surprised no band scope.

Yes. I'm doing that with different slots on DMR

Hi all!
I need to tell you about a finding regarding the reception of the Alinco DJ-X100 in the 70cm analog amateur radio band.
I intended to purchase a Comet WR100RX2 whip antenna with a direct SMA connection. But to my surprise... with the original antenna, inside the house, it receives without problems. In contrast, with the Comet W100RX BNC antenna using an adapter, it failed to receive almost anything.
I tried this at different extensions of the telescopic antenna. Even with a Diamond RH795, the result was the same—reception was much worse than the original antenna. However, telescopic antennas function very well on a Malahit Radio. Just not on the Alinco.
On Airband AM the antennas have the same reception. Maybe the Comet 0,5- 1S better.
I will probably remain with the original antenna. Have you experienced something like this?"
