Another issue is ordering direct could get confiscated since it’s not FCC approved (unblocked). Congress has not repealed that BS blocks yet. You could be out of some serious cash if customs snags it. Just wait for the USA version. Has anyone scanned the FCC approvals to see if this radio has been approved yet? If it has, that would indicate it’s about ready for sale here. When I emailed AOR, was told to watch the USA web site. It’s not on there yet.

I keep checking AOR USA web site to see if its posted. Nothing, but there is a blank spot for a new radio. If anyone knows how to check the FCC database to see if it cleared for the USA, please post your findings.

Nothing in the FCC OET Authorization database. It does not always mean no grant as the manufacturer can request the FCC to withhold publishing authorization information for a period of time.

I expect the English language web pages of AOR Japan to have the information before AOR USA. Right now it only shows up on the Japanese language web pages.

How much is that in US dollars? If delivery is late February, maybe AOR USA would post the DV3 on there website.

I've had the AR- DV1 for several years, and it's been my "go-to" radio. Hopefully, the new model will not require too many paid "optional" features. And also hope the audio equalizer settings can be programmed and saved into memory on a per-channel basis.

Have read the DV1 had some issues. Has the updates help fix those issues? Been hoping someone that gets the DV3 is a ham operator for a thorough review.

Waiting on deciding until I can see what all information it will display / give about what it receives. First look seems very basic, hopefully there is an expanded option to display Talkgroups, etc.

Absolutely, same here!
Hoping it gives all kinds of data.
Hopefully that USB-C will output plenty 👌

My recollection is that like any new model there were some "birthing pains", but nothing really stands out in my mind. I've been very happy with the DV1 in the nearly 10 years that I have had it. It did go back once for a repair of the tuning dial.

Some of the previous issues may have been with firmware versions, which the company was able to correct with updates. The fact that the DV3 is so similar in function and design as the DV1 should make for a smooth operating transition.

Hopefully the ban on cell phone frequency operation here in United States will soon be lifted, so hoping to receive the DV3 when it becomes available with no frequencies blocked. I would expect that if the unit is released prior to the lifting of the ban, that AOR will provide for a quick firmware upgrade to unlock those frequencies in the new units.

I like the look of the new unit myself its a shame they still don't have 12.5khz NXDN. but what i was surprised to see in the brochure was that the supplied accessories only has the User manual only. The international model does not include the AC power supply or telescopic rod antenna: these items are sold separately. that's a bit rude considering the price.

While AOR will receive modes other receivers & scanners do not, they are very, very basic about it. You can hear it, but not see much about what you are hearing.
Having computer connectivity is pretty standard these days, but AOR seems to be stuck in the old DOS programming days. So much for that "much more modern interface" they advertise.

I think the DV-3 really had a lot of potential, but after reading up on it, I believe I am gonna most likely sit this one out. Unfortunate, but it saves me some money I don't need to spend.

If I wanted a basic receiver that could pick up stuff Uniden can't, the DV-1's are about to be available on the used market much cheaper.

Their other receivers with IQ output can work with special versions of SDR# and Perseus (they teamed up for this)
And the DV3 has an IQ out option as well, so who knows...

Announced prices here in Europe are all over the place though, some ridiculously much higher than AOR Japan prices.
