Highlights from the pdf file...

=============================
Improved digital decoding:

After upgrading to DSP Application firmware version 1.3 (DSP-APP 1.3),
some users reported increased instances of the scanner failing to
decode the beginning of digital transmissions on certain systems.
DSP-APP 1.4 improves the performance of initial digital voice
decoding and should result in fewer instances of undecoded digital
noise at the beginning of transmissions.

I'd been wondering...

I'd been wondering why mine kept "just hearing the noise" of like I was using a regular scanner and programmed in a CC for Ohio MARCS. It happened quite a bit after I put the last update in!!!! I hope this fixes that....

It will - it does a very good job especially in weak signal areas. I took it to "CQPSK land" and "seemed" to notice an improvement, but at the least it wasn't any worse than before so given their explanation it seems to have been a good fix.

Testing U1.3 (Pro-96) vs U1.4 (Pro-2096) on this often encrypted APCO25 system.

Both scanners are on ID Hold on the same ID. Both scanners are hooked to the same antenna through an Electroline EDA 4-G cable TV amplifier.

Now and then, both DSP's lead a com with some digital rat tat tat prior to voice, but appear to receive all of the voice. However, U1.4 does this rat tat more then U1.3. Overall vote...slightly in favor of U1.3 on this system.

This Scantenna appears to drop sharply in the VHF range so I can't check this on VA STARS here at the PC.

So far on the Colorado DTRS-

Using 3 Pro-96's with supplied antennas;

A lot better than 1.3 (this version is almost unusable here IMO)

Slightly better than 1.2. I am still getting occasional noise, but not as often.

Just to note- 1.2 works very well here. The noise is minimal.

Blew chunks for me - MCSO and Phoenix SO were completely impossible to receive. Went back to 1.3 and all is fine.

There's a limit to how much a firmware update can help CQPSK reception issues... V1.4 was basically a minor bug fix for the motorboat issue.

You are correct... but I have spent the last 3 weeks since they went live trying to figure out optimal antenna / att configurations... and I immediately noticed a difference today with 1.4 on the CQPSK here.

Maybe just a bonus??? I'm sure glad!

If for some reason you have version 1.3 on your desktop, or in the same directory you are trying to unzip it to, you need to delete it first.

Solved the porblem for me!

Same problem here. I removed 1.3 and still does not work.

This is a "DSP-App" update, right?

My scanner shows "Boot: v1.0," then if I press "3" it shows:
CPU: F1.4
DSP-App: F1.2
DSP-Voc: F1.0

So, hmm... for some reason I thought I was updated before - I guess I wasn't. Are there any other updates I should apply besides this DSP 1.4 update?

Thanks, all.
