I don't believe I've checked the SDS series to see what happens to a manually entered P25 band plan. I recall other models would clear out any custom/manual P25 band plan once the scanner started decoding the control channel. This was verified by entering a band plan into the scanner, scanning the system, then checking the band plan again to see any differences. Perhaps if a site is not broadcasting any band plan, the scanner will leave the custom one intact as there is nothing to overwrite.

Tbh Uniden has been so flaky since Paul died that I can't keep track of all the quirks and bugs.
Makes sense, so I can confirm, Custom entry remains intact after decoding CC with a site transmitting bandplan on SDS200. Not happy with 28 any way I try with anything I have. It is nice to have a better understanding. Google has detail on purpose of IDEN UP messaging in P25 CC. Well done!

I'll have to do some testing with an SDS200, but I believe the issue might have to do with TDMA traffic. Uniden never included a provision for FDMA vs TDMA in the band plan, i.e. no slots parameter.

I wonder, if you enter the correct NJICS band plan for Site 28, does it decode FDMA traffic? I realize there is little FDMA left, but I'm curious if it only has trouble with the TDMA traffic. If so, then TDMA traffic channel frequencies are likely being calculated internally by the scanner with no regard for any custom band plan you enter for the site.

Edit: Quick followup, and I know we're getting way off topic here, but par for the course on RR. I just uploaded a P25 site to an SDS200 using ProScan and cleared out the band plan (all zeroes). Uploaded that programming, and the scanner immediately started decoding P25 TDMA traffic with no issue. After a few minutes I checked the band plan via the scanner's menu and it was still completely zeroed out.

That leads me to believe that the band plan entered for a P25 in a Uniden scanner is all but useless. Probably doubly so for TDMA traffic.

Understand the thought process, 28 has plenty of P25 via Parks PD and a couple other stragglers. I will set that up and let it record continuously. I can cross reference a different Site with UT and see when P25 is active.

Concur with your suspicions, seems to be headed that way “useless” at least for TDMA.

Edit GTR” seems to be generating internally with no regard”. Yes indeed!!! The SDS200 will get everything correct on 28 with a MBP EXCEPT frequency it shows when it auto tunes and the frequency is off, result no audio. Will post a photo.

Plenty of opportunity for 28 to deliver P25, of course I can see the Channel 01 activity w P25 TG’s on Site 7, I see a few left, Parks, Medivac and USCG TG.
Most of these appear on Site 28 SDS 200 and not a peep. The radio can’t get the
math correct, even with FDMA. 4 hours autopilot, not a peep on playback.
Display fills with data, just miscalculations on frequency. MBP is entered properly.

The Union County Simulcast Site 7 may have changes. It appears to me an increase of signal on the CC.

Not certain why, but certainly the new site in Murray Hill may have come on line.

All radios show increase in signal, including larger spike on Tiny SA.

A side question for those that are familiar with NJ State Police....
With all the predictions of a high increase in terrorist activity & possible 'civil unrest', what channels would you suggest I should monitor besides the usual C3 & C4?
Maybe throw in a few suggestions on other systems I should have programmed into my BCD996P2 for the Burl Co area.

This is anecdotal obviously as I can't present any real empirical data to support it, but, in my opinion the SDS200 actually performs better when I manually enter the correct band plan as received in Unitrunker. It appears to me that the error rate has also gone down for me on some previously finicky systems, both dedicated Phase I, dedicated Phase II, and mixed FDMA/TDMA. I definitely feel like it solved my issues when I go through Ohio with MARCS on, and when I'm back home in Texas on the LRGV System.

But again, that's my subjective experience. Though that opinion is formed off of monitoring and manually entering the correct bandplans for countless systems in 30+ states and Canada as I've traveled the last two years and made a habit of it. I could be wrong, but that's been my perception.

all spare out in the NJICS DB? and why dont it have its own Category like the Palisades Interstate Parkway or not in the NJSP Toll Roads?
