A new addtion to B is on the air (OTA).
All 13 channels are in the rack.

It is up at 700 above sea level.

This should fill in Somerset, Union and add quite a bit
of signal coverage to many areas.

It was turned on Monday 11/22. Very Strong.

Yep, the microwave backbone upgrade is complete. Anyone in 'B' land that wants to hear the toll-roads now can hear them anywhere in the troop, not just near the roads themselves.

Current plans are to have a new transmitter in Somerset County soon. Where, I don't know...

The FCC database shows that the tower is in Watchung. This should help the poor coverage on Route 78 east of 287.

Yes, Watchung. It went live this past Tuesday. The system is now a SmartZone 4.1 mixed mode system, meaning it is capable of digital.

One correction, Troop B is only 12 channels.

The reception of State Police Troop B in the Somerset County area is teriffic! Now i don't have to use my 800Mhz antenna on my car anymore to listen to them; the wideband Antenex scanner antenna picks them up clear as a bell on 287 and 22 in Bridgewater. I can't wait to see what the recpetion is like on 287 from South Bound Brook all the way to the Garden State Parkway. :D

I figured it had to be on the first ridge of the Watchung Mountains - My club's repeater is up there, and that's why we blast farther than any other single-site amateur repeater in northern NJ (the MSR2000 at 100W doesn't hurt, either!).

George: I have not listened to "B" much in the past. But now that I am within a 9 iron of new site, I have been listening.

This AM 11/28 winds are steady 15-20 gusting to 35. Many users have static one moment and another they are L\C. Seems to almost be on all types of units and all talkgroups.

Is this the M\W fading on one of the hops, it then is retransmitted to all the sites?

BTW I developed this site years ago.

Could be a problem with the combiner for that channel that has the static. Watch the scanner and see if it is consistent to a particular freq. I was listening yesterday and noticed interference on 860.4625.
