No slash or other special characters. The files must write somewhere if they are emailed but they get deleted.

Andy?

The program deletes the WAV (uncompressed) file, but keeps the smaller mp3 and AMR files. If there is nothing in your /audio folder, that probably means that you don't have ffmpeg properly installed and the mp3 and amr files are never being created. In that case, the program sends the larger WAV file instead before deleting them.

*facepalm* I forgot you changed that behavior. I was wondering if the FFMpeg thing might be the case but forgot to ask. Good to note.

@jwrrr, do you have the ffmpeg.exe next to your TTD executable? If not then grab this file ffmpeg-git-a254452-win32-static.7z from the wayback machine since the one Andy is linked to has gone 404. If you already have it there than something else is going on. The FFMpeg needs to be 32bit not x64 as TTD is 32bit.

Guess I've been sending WAV files all this time. Never had ffmpeg placed in the folder. So only the EXE from the bin folder needs to be in there?

Is there any way to not delete the WAV files by chance?

Thanks Guys!

Yep. Just the ffmpeg.exe is necessary. If you want to keep the wav file there is an option that can go in the config.cfg for "keep_wav = 1". The only place that is mentioned is in the v67 release notes (Previous Releases | TwoToneDetect)

Verizon Issues

Folks-

I am running TTD for a few different Counties now. Roughly 100 personnel. I am getting complaints that the delays range from not receiving anything at all, to a 6+ hour delay. Has anyone had any success with talking with Verizon to get the vzwpix.com email address to open back up?

Thank you.

I don't believe I am having issues to Verizon, I mean, occasionally a delay, but nothing consistent.

I am having issues with TMobile users not getting messages from one of my setups, cannot remember what address that is sending from.

The issue is definitely frustrating.

I've started to send the dispatches to regular email addresses. Most use their phones for email and have an audio player that will play the attached file without issue. That was the easiest/free solution I found.

I agree with ffryan76 and have had to do the same. Unfortunately, I haven't seen a better solution thus far.

Which method did you use DC31? I'm not sure if some of the cheapos on the FD will pay $5 for pushover.

Sorry, i just went back and reviewed the github. Unfortunately, instructions for implementation are quite vague at this point, so i can see where you would struggle. I am using the push notifications method. Also, i am running it off a raspberry pi, so using pure python rather than making a windows executable. I can't be much help with it on Windows. My Windows experience ended with XP.

If you have a pushover acct (free 7-day trial) you can subscribe to one of my sets of notifications by using this link:

https://pushover.net/subscribe/Svfd-1hey5yhfsfk1v79

One good feature is that all subscribing/unsubscribing etc. is done by the user, freeing up the ttd administrator from these tasks.

Oh this is cool. I need to pay more attention to this thread. I was going to write a pushover script for TTD and store the audio on AWS or something. Is this windows only I see references to .exe all over the place? What is it using for the audio file storage backend because I think pushover is just text?

The ftp script uploads the audio file to a server of your choice (AWS would work). I happen to use nearlyfreespeech.net. The push notification script is triggered by TTD sending the push to PushOver including the link to the server file. PushOver delivers the notification and you click on the link.
Only works on smart phones, i believe.

Just today I started getting Verizon bounces mentioned above. Northern Vermont. "MMSC NDR ADMINISTRATOR" is this what others are getting? Thankfully most of my users are ATT.

I am trying to transition everyone over to E-mail paging. Some users don't receive E-mail's via their phone, but, perhaps we can change that. :)

I have my TTD setup and running on the Pi finally :) I was able to finally get everything running using the Ubuntu Mate instructions that were posted a few months ago. (Shout out to that user for great work!)

Question: Is there a way to stop recording after x seconds of silence, eliminating the dead air after the dispatch? I have the recording time set at :40, which will allow for the longer dispatches, but certainly isn't needed for the short ones.

For example a simple ems call might be "44 sick subject 103 Main Street" That takes all of 5 seconds leaving me with 35 seconds of silence at the end of the file (and ultimately a 30 second delay in sending the page)

But I need to keep it longer so for serious calls like accidents where there are alot of ems units dispatched (Here, ambulances only have EMT's; Paramedics are separate companies) such as" 55, ambulance 44, ambulance 33, Medic 108, Medic 102, Ems Admin for notification, Trooper 2, Vehicle Accident subjects reported trapped 22315 Jones Lane"

Thanks!

Yes. What you'll want to do is set the record_time to something shorter (say 15 seconds), and set the record_release_time to something like 3 seconds. The program will then record for a minimum of 15 seconds, and then continue recording until it sees 3 seconds of silence. This requires your audio_threshold parameter to be set correctly so that the program can reliably differentiate silence from radio traffic.

You can also set stacked_extend_record = 1 to eliminate the multiple tone sets from being recorded during a stacked page.

Chief,

It has been a while since i have been in that image so i don't remember all the details. Andy has given you the guidance needed. If you are having difficulty locating the stuff, those parameters go in the config.cfg file which should be in the TTD directory. The same place you put your email sending credentials.

Ask if you encounter problems.
