I've a feeling your "cash back" stays in the PayPal ecosystem in the form of points, presumably to be redeemed at a future date within PayPal.

I have never done the pay in 4. How much did you have to pay up front? Do you know when your next payment is? Does the 20% back go into your PayPal balance as a credit?

I've used this payment option before, four about equal payments I think a week or two apart with payment via your linked option. In my case my bank account, so just make sure you have funds available. PayPal provided the payment dates in my PayPal account.

Bearcat Warehouse sells on Amazon with vendor name "Police Scanner Outlet". Other marketplace sellers pop up from tome to time. If Amazon, at some point, decides to stock & sell this scanner as "Sold by, and Shipped by Amazon", as in this current listing for 996P2.

Other than offering extended warranties for items sold, I've never seen any further options, such as programming or upgrade key purchasing. I've purchased several scanners via Amazon, and no option, other than extended warranty, ever was present.

From a hobbyist standpoint, I agree 100%.

My retirement job has been a bit of a revelation in some aspects. It is amazing the volume of would-be and even current scanner owners that have absolutely zero idea how to manipulate these scanners. They have zero awareness that Radio Reference even exists. They want a turnkey investment. That's where we come in.

I always encourage people to at least learn the basics, try Sentinel, keep the database up to date, become a member of RR and maybe some of the other regional sites if applicable. You'd be amazed at how many people don't care to, and flat out won't. So, they're basically paying us to do the legwork for them; if it's a new scanner they're paying for us to get the key from Uniden and install it. If they're buying it after the fact we're still doing the legwork, and they have someone to call if they have an issue getting the key into the scanner.

There are a LOT of folks out there that just want to listen and will never dig into what really makes these beauties tick. Sad but true.
