Win500 / Pro 106
Just got my Pro 106 (which will replace/augment my 2- Pro97's). ---> Thank you Santa!
Downloaded the Win500 software, extracted to a separate directory/folder, created a shortcut, click on Win500 and all comes up just as it should. I can import from the RR database some stuff just to test.. No luck uploading!
So, I see in the menu, D/L Pro-97 files, which I do, create and save the file, then plug in the Pro 106 with the RS 20-247 interface cable then try to upload to the 106 and nothing- The 106 isn't communicating with the software. There is no CLONE mode showing on the Pro 106 scanner.
Unplug the 1/8 mono adapter and try the stereo plug to the P106 - still nothing. The scanner just sits as says nothing to scan and the software times out quickly with scanner not found (or something to that effect).
So... what am I doing wrong? I've checked COM ports and it set the same as the WIN97 software (Com 4). Using Properties ./ Hardware / Device Manager, in XP (3), it shows USB adapters
Interl (R) 82371AB/EB PCI to USB Universal Host Controller
USB Root Hub
USB Serial Converter
Unplug the programming cable and "USB Serial Converter" goes away from USB Host Controller list.
It still works just FINE on the 2 PRO97 scanners, but nothing doing on the Pro106????
I've clicked Properties on the "USB Serial Converter" and picked update driver, which I found in the Pro97 folder, and some things ( a buunch of .DLL's) moved and looks like it updated just fine.
Still NOTHING on the p106 when plugging the cable from the USB port to the programming cable to the P106 - still works fine on the Pro-97 files.
Lest I give it up? What am I missing???
I should mention that I am running all of this on an old IBM Thinkpad, which is ancient by todays standard, but it has worked flawlessly for years.... It is only USB1, not high speed, but that should not make any difference.
In fact, I still have an iTunes program running on it for an olde Ipod , so as not to contaminate that with my iPhone 4 whcih I use on a different comptuer. Works fine, ....slow.. but works just fine.
UPDATE - so I find this new file to D/L and unzip for different drivers to use with WIN500. Nothing seems to happen, so I go to Explore / Hardware / Device Manageer / USB , right click on update driver, point to the new directory wehre these new files are - it moves some DLL's and says OK/FINISH.
Now, as soon as I plug in the programming cable the comptuer locks up - there is NO escape except a hard turn off, then reboot, and now in a circle of freeze up and hard re-boot.
And, now neither the Pro97 or P106 wont' read or do anything.....
** SOS* - PON PON PON ** what is happening?
