Yes I do... in fact the one circled in blue is right on top of me:
Bost Site.jpg
WNMJ500, Turkey Hill ... is that good?

If it's a simucast system, it's a good thing I sprung for the wsm100.

Are you trying to program this manually... Or are you appending from the database in sentinel to your fav list...
Because if you do it in sentinel, all the sites/towers will load... Then you have to weed out and remove the ones that are not close to you to find
the ones that work for you...

Look at this link... Is this what your looking for... Notice those are all digital not analogue...

Using Sentinel... does that mean going into the list of frequencies and deleting the ones that aren't close to me? It doesn't look like you can do that... doesn't look like you can do much with that list of frequencies.

EDIT: Oh wait, it looks like I can do that in the favorites editor!

Clear your fav list and append this... I think this is what your looking for... Maybe...
This is what the link above appears to be in Sentinel...

While you were searching for that (thanks again), I was writing another message just to clarify in my own head what I'd already done so I can understand why it doesn't work. Just for grins, I'll post it here:
  1. Created the MA State Police FL
  2. Added the Statewide->Massachusetts State Police System to the FL, including all the Departments and Sites contained therein.
  3. From the long list of departments and sites, I deleted everything except the things I thought I needed:
    1. State Police Group A - North Greater Boston (Department)
    2. Boston (Site)
  4. The Boston site covers the area in the circle you posted.
  5. Within that circle is a tower that is practically on top of me.
Setting that aside for now, I added System Commonwealth Of Massachusetts Interoperable System (CoMIRS) as you suggested. Things are working for that system, as far as I can tell. The CoMIRS system gets scanned, going through all the departments, and there was some traffic on some of them, so I know it's working.

This raises questions:

  1. Could my original setup be correct, there's just no traffic?
  2. Is the department I chose originally the "wrong" one? There is also a department MSP Troop A under CoMIRS. They have similar (but not identical) Talk Groups, and similar (but not identical) circles. What does that mean?
  3. Was one department abandoned and the other used? Are they both in use?
  4. If I deleted every department except MSP Troop A under CoMIRS, leaving the sites alone, would that work? That's what I was doing with State Police Group A, except I deleted all the sites, except the one that (luckily) has a local tower. And I can't tell if that worked or not.
So if anyone can muddle through my ramblings and come up with commentary, I'd appreciate it.

I think what you were trying was an old analogue system... May not be in use anymore...
Like I said, the one I found is all digital... They may have transitioned, that I couldn't tell you...

If you loaded what I suggested, go back to the link I posted... You will see two sites listed for Middlesex County...
Those are the sites I would leave and delete the rest for now... See how it works for you...

Then you can clean up your list to your liking... As in deleting systems your not interested in...

This the old system for the MARCS IP that I used to listen to... It's been depreciated...

I think we're there! Once there's some traffic on the State Police, I'll know for sure. Thanks to everyone who chipped in. We made it to two pages, so I hope maybe someone else will find us here and get something from it!

Yes, that is one way of doing it. However, setting Location Control to On for the Favorites Lists, lets the scanner automatically "weed out" those sites and departments that are not close. That's allowing the scanner to work as designed.

If one "weeds out" the sites and departments not close to home, that means if the user goes on a trip somewhere, he could not merely change the zip code for the destination and be scanning away.
