I found out through zip scanners that Niles Mi is not nxds. I was looking at a uniden sds100 but when i sent them sn email asking would i have to pay extra for nxds they said Niles is not on that. I have been receiving more than what I was but still no Niles MI. Again thanks to everyone for helping out. You giys are the best. I did notice Niled should be 11619 or 13026

How close are you to Cass County. I saw something that Niles is in both Berrien and Cass Counties. If that is true, Niles could be on the Cass County site.

It's pretty close, but the Sumnerville site is just a few miles north of Niles. This site also provides most of the Cass County coverage.

The problem is lack of info, I have never heard Niles PD on 13026 or any other traffic. I think the tg is a placeholder if they ever join MPSCS.

Lookinging into the license I see Niles 453.95 notices go to attention of City Engineer and there are several other licenses that go to the Police Department or Police Chief. These need to be sorted out.

Unfortunately Niles is just out of range for me. It's bugging me enough that I might just drive down and sniff it all out with my SDR and DSD plus, Icom R30 and SDS100. Then submit my findings here. Biggest problem right now is hunting season and my work schedule, I'm on nights for a few weeks.

Hi Chuck... Just wanted to make a note. Just because zip scanners says your town is not nxdn does not mean that it's not. You did have a poster here saying he had it on good Authority that it had converted to nxdn.

I'm not going to besmirch zip scanners. I will let their own reputation speak for itself, you might want to search it on RR and see all the negative posts and threads. I have no doubt they just looked in the database and didn't see it and therefore believed it and told you that. It's not in the database as nxdn and I'm sure that's where zip scanners is getting their information from. I would believe the poster who had it on good authority they were converted over.

I see that Sumnerville is closer to Niles that either site in Cass Co. Chuck said that he heard Niles PD on 11P619, which is the alpha tag in the database for Niles PD for TGID 13026, which is in his file. Apparently, he heard that while scanning from the library.

Good point Jim, I wonder if, as has been suggested, that the p25 system is rebroadcasting the nxdn?

Chuck I still think the answer is you going and talking to some fireman or even policemen and having a conversation. Again, you might want to check with an amateur radio club near by you or any professional communication shops or radio stores and start doing some investigating in your hometown. Talk to people who would know.

That wasn't suggested, you misunderstood something. It definitely is not happening.

I'm well within range to receive the Sumnerville tower. It broadcast far and wide covering most of Berrien and Cass Counties. It's just the lower power, shorter antenna UHF from the PD I'm out of range on. If they used 13026 I would hear it. I checked my FL on Monday to add it in, but it was already there.

I'm surprised that Niles City is largely undocumented on RR. I did find some nxdn-n license info for the fire department. But the majority for FD is FM & FM-N. All PD is FM and majority is FM-N per license info.

Yep, This Thread actually started on another forum, the GRE Forum I believe. I was the first one to respond to Chuck. Not saying that you were suggesting the rebroadcast but I thought I remembered seeing that somewhere along the line, it may be on the other thread under a different title on the GRE forum.

tvengr has gone to Great Lengths to try to help Chuck.

It is unusual that there's no information other than those few VHF High fire frequencies and that one UHF frequency.

The NXDN system was/is patched into the state system and you should be able to hear it on the Berrien County talk groups. I think the Sumnerville tower is the closest, depending on where you are in the Niles area.

Again thanks Everyone. I am also looking for Niles fire. And Niles township fire. You guys on R/R are the best. I see Niles in my Summerville group but I just do not receive it . I reviewed that thread, thanks, but I didn't see anything that would help here.

I hunt in Cass County and have monitored them for years. They have pretty much moved over to MPSCS, Sumnerville provides most of the coverage and then the Cassopolis Tower. Depending on the antenna one might be able to pickup Cassopolis in Niles, but why bother (for Niles), the Sumnerville signal is so good an antenna is probably optional in Niles.

A lot of PDs have their own TG on MPSCS, but few actually use it. For example, St Joe use theirs frequently, but St Joe Township does not. 31026 is definitely not patched as the RR DB suggest.

The VHF and UHF Niles freqs I'll program into my SDS100 tonight. I'll look into exporting just this into a HPE and attach. It's going to be untested and based solely on license data. If I find time to head over to Niles it won't be until Monday or Tuesday.

Thanks . I was a ring bearer at my cousins wedding.I was 3 years old allmost 4yrs a couple of months shy.. How can I use that file you sent me and keep my current setup. Or should i out my current setup in a virtual file or archive my current set up.

You might be able to import (and append) a hpe file into your software. It's been too long for me, so I'm counting on TVengr to step in.

Unless you know how to manually add the freqs. There really isn't that many.

HPE files are used for exchanging Sentinel favorites lists. They cannot be imported into a PSR-800. If Chuck had Sentinel, he could copy the frequencies from Sentinel into an Excel file, convert it to an Excel CSV file, and import it as a text file into the PSR-800 software. Hit_Factor, if you can save the frequencies as a CSV file, Chuck can import the file directly into the PSR-800 software. The frequencies should be in a single column. Chuck, they should be imported as conventional frequencies.

That's too bad, I didn't know hpe was a Sentinel only format.

It's a pretty short list of freqs. Auto means let the scanner decide if its FM or FM-n. The nxdn-n is the 6.25 kHz variety.

Since none of this is tested I wouldn't expect great results, but certainly something should be heard.
