Niles city and Niles Township are not on the statewide P25 system. Both departments are dispatched on 151.295 “Fire: Dispatch South” They respond on 156.105 “Fire: Dispatch. Today at the barn fire they used Fire Ground 3 151.235. I was too far away to hear anything on this channel. I’m using a whistler TRX-1.

If you have GRECOM EZ SCAN software, read your scanner, name, and save the file. To the right of Trunked System Talkgroup Information, click on New and enter the talkgroup info. Save the file and write back to your scanner.

I do not seem to pick up Niles Michigan Police. I just had my psr 800 upgraded to whistler 1080 . Scanner working great I just do not seem to pick up Niles Police. With Whister 1080 Program on my laptop how do I hook it up to Radio Reference on my laptop. I am hooked up with programming cable. Any advice greatly appreciated..

I have also been trying to find Niles PD whenever I am in that area. I think they are on TG 3281 (11ECOM), patched to 453.975 NXDN, but I have not been able to confirm that for sure.

FCC database shows license WPBZ203 453.975 expired on 4/1/2023. That is the only license for 453.975 showing in Niles.

I did some hunting and have confirmed that despite the license being expired, Niles City PD is on 453.975 NXDN, which is patched to 11ECOM (MPSCS TG 3281). I also heard Niles Township PD on 11SCOM (TG 3109).

I submitted the info for a database update.

Thanks This is what I found also. Also when you see a talk group number on your display of scanner is there a place on radio reference you can go to to find out what the talk group is. Again thanks..

For the talkgroups, you can check the database: MPSCS
I use the CTRL+F function to search for it on that page.

Niles PD, which is completely separate from the agency that patrols Niles Twp. (there is no Niles Twp. PD anymore; that job is performed by units of the Berrien County Sheriff's Dept.) use a non-trunked digital radio system on the same frequencies as the analog system it replaced (dispatch on 453.975 MHz, repeaterized). They don't appear to routinely patch to the 11ECOM channel of the MPSCS, although at one time they did. To monitor them you'll need one of the newer radios that can handle NXDN.

I don't know if there is a search function to just plug in a TG number and have its users revealed. The post above mine seems to have a solution/suggestion.

Has anyone noticed talk group number 3274 which says on my whistler 1080 scanner says smacs ambulance but seems to be some law freq..I found smacas ambulance on 23378.. Strange.. Must be moving around stuff.

I have a whistler 1080 but I am having issues with it. And now that whistler has gone out of business I am wondering would it be smart to get a new scanner. Any opinions for Niles Michigan..Thanks for any advice....

I just talked to County officer on 12-23-2024 at Walmart .I asked him are they changing systems repeater sites he said yes. Supposed to be finished in about a month. Again wondering is SDS 100 would be a good scanner. Thanks

Talk group 3281 east comm where niles.police broadcasts I do not here much. Radio reference data base says Niles police is rebroadcast on 3281 talk group data base also says it's nxdn. Or it could have been moved. They are moving things around in Berrien Cnty.. Is anyone else experiencing this .

The SDS 100 & SDS 200 are good options for MPSCS. As long as Niles doesn't go encrypted, those scanners will work for the foreseeable future.
