This was the mockup drawing of the device before production... labels in wrong location, missing led spot. And several other things you can quickly notice..

I saw this on ebay, it was listed as a "SDS100 V2" look at the bottom of the rear, under the battery, appears to be external contacts for a drop-in charger.....

It would have been nice if it ended up looking like that. And I thought I remembered UPMan saying there would be a drop in desk top charger released after the fact. But I'm still not seeing any charging contacts on the new battery doors. But heck at this point I would settle for it operating correctly on UHF and VHF at this point. The new battery would have at least allowed me to listen for more than 5.5 hors at a time without having to plug it in or charge it. I have to say that would have been nice.

That looks like a sketch and not an official picture. None of the new owners have posted a picture of the battery door from the new scanner. I hope it would work like that but we have not scene an official picture.

The battery door is just deeper to contain the larger battery. No charging contacts of any kind. I can post a photo comparison of the two batteries/doors later tonight if desired.

The drop in charger that is in the works, is a battery drop in charger. No mention of a base drop in charging device for the scanner.

That's been asked and answered so many times already in this thread - see post 1. Rest assured, when they start shipping, you'll read about it here.

it has taken me 9 hours to charge the stock battery, perhaps longer with the bigger battery.

haha right! ive also thought about how i may never actually be able to fully charge this newer battery, given the charge rate. wish they could have made it accept 9 volts, along with the standard 5, like cell phones do when you use fast chargers

Only through USB-C/3.1, which the SDS100 doesn't have. If you send 9 volts to a USB 2 device, it will release the magic smoke.

ok, that sounds MUCH more intelligent than your first statement. and i didnt say the sds100 had it. i was making one of those "it would be cool, if" scenarios

One should be able to use a fast charging USB device on the SDS100. The initial startup voltage for a fast charger is 5V, until it can negotiate the higher voltage. Since the SDS100 and/or the cable would not support the 9V, then all should be well.

Of course, I say "should", as this is all theory based on other devices (i.e. I have tested an iPhone 7 with my Samsung charger).

I can confirm that high-voltage-capable fast chargers from Anker can be used with the SDS - it will correctly negotiate charging voltage when connected. I use their 39 watt QC 3.0 car charger (which will do 5V/3A, and up to 12V/1.5A) and it charges the SDS at the same rate as Uniden's USB wall-wart. Other reputable brands of USB chargers should work fine as well.

How many volts does the new larger blue vs the 4.10 volts of the smaller battery when fully charged.
